House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa on Tuesday issued a subpoena to the Internal Revenue Service, ordering the agency to turn over the hard drive they claim is responsible for wiping out two years of critical email communications.
Issa has dramatically widened his probe into the IRS after the agency announced last week that it had lost the emails, which may have provided information about an IRS policy of targeting for extra scrutiny and delay many conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

When Issa issue’s a subpoena it is useless, since they don’t have to respond to it for several months, or however long it takes for them to lose the hard drive.
More grandstanding moronic gestures. Really not impressed!
“Asked?” “Asked?” How about DEMAND! And not just “a” hard-drive, how about back-ups and such...
They should consult some computer experts and request all the computer maintenance records — every organization, including I am sure the IRS, backs up their data, there are backups to the backups.
If that's true, then Google (or the hotmail folks) has the emails on their back-up servers. All of them.
“It looks like the American people were lied to and the IRS tried to cover up the fact it conveniently lost key documents in this investigation,” Camp and Boustany said in a statement. “The White House promised full cooperation, the commissioner promised full access to Lois Lerner emails and now the agency claims it cannot produce those materials and they’ve known for months they couldn’t do this.”
In addition, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which represents 41 organizations who are suing the government in federal court, sent letters to federal agencies and Democratic senators asking them to preserve documents relating to the case.
“The Obama administrations IRS continues to spin an unbelievable tale that is simply absurd, said Jay Sekulow, the center’s chief counsel. “The disappearing emails will not prevent us from pursuing the evidence that we know exists evidence that shows a well-orchestrated effort to unlawfully target groups because of their political beliefs.”
Besides the IRS and Justice, the center sent letters to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Election Commission, and the White House. It also sent correspondence to several Democrats who have been mentioned in IRS correspondence.
They include Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Al Franken of Minnesota, and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire The group also has targeted Reps. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, and Peter Welch of Vermont.
“It is troubling to see a brazen, out-of-control IRS utilizing increasingly unbelievable stonewalling tactics to cover-up the truth from the American people,” Sekulow said. “We will not permit that to occur.”

I think they need to find some real punishment for being held in contempt.
Bump to this thread.
“Issa is impotent on all the Obama scandals. Thats why Boehner and the Dems want him right where he is.”
Right you are! Issa is a useless showman who’s totally ineffective at moving this investigation forward. I used to think that the GOPe was just inept, but now it’s clear that they are co-conspirators with the RATs. It’s sad!
That's why the announcement that the emails were "lost" was delayed for over a year after they were demanded. Takes time to wipe that distribution list...
Not if they want to avoid an audit!
Pretty good aim for a Commodore 64.
But he writes really good letters, saying this time he is really, really, really mad.
I thought about the lost mails this day.
Here is a professional breaking the Law.
Lerner’s smart move is to archive CYA (Cover Your A$$) mails for the day the SHTF.
Those CYA mails, from the DoJ or WH, are somewhere close to Lerner, or her Lawyer
