Go tell that to the litany of theological giants and the early Church Fathers. There was about 30-40 years of oral tradition before Scripture was written and it is the Catholic Church that authoritatively selected the books we call the Bible. These books did not fall from the sky! Christ sent His disciples and founded His Church to present ONE truth for all time to come.

The Blessed Virgin Mary has all eternity to answer any prayer, and no difference is discernible in the Earthly realm.

Your elevated human woman is as dead as the rest of her generation; waiting for the Last Trump; just as countless others are who have died in Christ.

No one convinces anyone else to respect the Catholic church or Catholic believers by leveling insults at them while howling about being insulted by them when they are not the ones who have insulted you on FR when you joined, nor ever since, nor on this thread in spite of your oversensitivity, suspicions and wild accusations. In fact I have objectively defended aspects of your church on this thread and on many other threads. You had the cheek to ask me, out of the one side of your mouth, to take the time to dig up one of my past defenses of your Pope that I published months ago on FR and mentioned on this thread, while insulting me out of the other side of your mouth.

So, Dad, in light of your complaints about how I’ve been wasing your time and not smart enough to touch the hem of your exceptional intellect, which btw doesn’t know Italian (one of my four languages), didn’t read what the Pope actually said, can’t Google it and figure it out from Google Translate or your own vast knowlege of Latin, and thinks I’m unworthy of your august presense in the first place, I’ll get around to it if I happen across it and not a moment before.

It’s a wonder you haven’t caused yourself injury with such an apoplectic, unforgiving and innacurate view of your fellow man and the privilege — and obligations — of being on FR.

That said, bless you very much.

You’re welcome.

Too bad Mary's future role wasn't written in stone...

or papyrus...

or parchment...

or even sand.

It was! Son Behold Thy Mother! Mother Behold Thy Son!

Nonsense. Those words are found nowhere in Scripture.

This is what is recorded.....

John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. Then he says unto the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

If you're going to try to quote Scripture, you ought to at least do it accurately.

It is never recorded in Scripture that Jesus addressed Mary as *mother*. He always referred to her as *Woman*.

Nor did He address John as *Son*.

You need to get something straight here. In the first century Jewish culture of that time, men addressed their mother as “Woman.” This is what you literal Scripturalists do. Just like David Koresh and Jim Jones. This is why we have 35,000 heretical brands of Christianity.

And the ONLY church on earth with AUTHORITY was formed in this same time; doing things the way they were supposed to be done.

WHY has you changed?

Keeping up with the world??

It gets so hard trying to figger out which of you are LYING (or at least repeating UNTRUTHs).

We have a Catechism. Catholics fought off the early heresies that Christ was man and not God etc. There is the Nicene Creed. Once you stray away from central truths (like belief in the Eucharist) everything else begins to crumble. There is no lasting Truth till the end of time. This is why we have multiple interpretations of Scripture right down to the local corner street Foursquare Church. This is the curse of the Reformation is that it spawned a Tower of Babel interpretations bereft of tradition, discipline, ritual, and revelation. All the towering theological giants of the ages after whom universities have been named are Catholic. It also has the met notable of converts from every other religious sect. Truly, it is the mustard tree.

“When things fall apart, the center cannot hold.”

Yeats:

The Second Coming
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

The carnal mind of the followers of the Catholic religion is simply stunning.

And it most definitely was NOT the Catholic Church.
