Eric Cantor announced Wednesday he will step down as House majority leader on July 31 after suffering a stunning primary loss, touching off a leadership scramble at the top tiers of the Republican Party.
Fox News is told a new leadership election will be held June 19, a little more than a week from now. Cantor, who said he will serve out the remainder of his seventh term as a Virginia congressman, told reporters he made the decision to give up his majority leader post with "great humility."
While he won't be on the ballot in November, he said, "I will be a champion for conservatives across the nation."
Cantor threw his support behind House GOP Whip Kevin McCarthy for the post, offering his "full support" and saying "he'd make an outstanding majority leader."

McCarthy = warmed over Cantor.
Same with McMorris/Rodgers.
Same with Ryan and Pete Sessions (at least regarding immigration).
We need a majority leader who can show a record of opposing “immigration reform” and supporting nothing but enforcement of existing law to the full extent.
BINGO
Steve King would be a good start
How about Nancy Pelosi?
She’s more conservative than most of the Republican leadership anymore.
Dana said Cantor was worse than Boehner.
Given Cantor’s term runs throughout 2014, why did he step down? Is this standard protocol?
He didn't resign his seat. He just resigned his leadership position. And, yes, that would be SOP -- a lame duck can't be an effective leader.
I listened to some of his concession speech...He sounds exactly like every lib' dumocrap I've ever heard....
Opportunity.!! He wants to give everyone OPPORTUNITY.!! The LAST thing a liberal dumocrap wants is a J-O-B... Is THAT the opportunity he was talking about.?? Or was it the opportunity to take every single dime out of our pockets that they can get their hands on.!!
I have kin that wouldn't take an "opportunity" even if you threatened to crack their heads..! Why should they..? Everything is free.!! Housing, food, you name it... They seem perfectly willing and happy to live off the crumbs from the table...
The only work they do is figuring out how to get their kids on "SS disabily".! Brain tumors or can't work because their addicted to drugs...or a hundred other such BS reasons why they can't support themselves...
Sorry for the rant... I was just over to their place...very depressing... :(
Next target is TN Establishment RINO SEN lamar alexander, Oath Breaker of 2 terms and out. Voted yes on 0’care cloture, and to gut Military pensions. Debt has risen under his watch. He does NOT respond to constituents, only to the National GOP, who will back him with money besides his own multi million $$ war chest.
TN State Rep Joe Carr is a conservative, with a record to prove it.
Who should conservatives back as replacement for Cantor? Who’s come forward to run that is conservative? Steve King was mentioned. Anyone else? I’m writing my congressman telling him to Not vote for McCarthy.
My vote is for:
Trey Gowdy
Louie Gohmert
Trent Franks - AZ (My rep - he spoke at my son’s graduation at AZ Christian University - wow)
The GOP treasonous country club elite now scramble to maintain power. It will not be their last scramble either.
Sarah Palin for Speaker of the House!!!
“Sarah Palin for Speaker of the House!!!”
You might want to try “Sarah Palin for Representative in the House from Arizona” first, since that is first step to Speaker. Or possibly a Senator for a bigger vote to help out the House, that now has a Republican Majority.
We need to reclaim the Senate in 2014 to actually get anything done!

Any Speaker of the House does not have to be a member of Congress, the convention is that they are.
The Speaker of the House is the presiding officer of the chamber. The office was established in 1789 by Article I, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, which states in part, “The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker...” The current Speaker is John Boehner, a Republican who represents Ohio’s 8th congressional district. The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected House Representative, though all Speakers have been an elected Member of Congress.[1]

Sarah Palin would make a great Speaker of the House of Representatives.

I’m well aware of how the Speaker is elected. Just because one does not have to be a member of Congress by law, it is clear that NO ONE has ever been elected Speaker of the House unless they were elected, and they must be voted in by the majority party.
As much as I like Sarah Palin, that logically isn’t going to happen, since as many RINOs as Republicans would be likely to vote against it.... for obvious reasons. So according to the House history, it is ‘being elected first is the first step’ to being Speaker, period..
Lets have Sarah as Speaker! Yaaaaaaayyy!
TN primary is in August, Vote JOE CARR instead of RINOT incumbent oath breaker lamar alexander, who has made hip slef very wealthy from his seat in US Senate. Promised 2 terms and out 73 yrs old time to ‘retire’ Not that I approve of their lucrative retirement plans. GO JOE GO TN State Rep Joe Carr.
Like Growdy, I will be voting Joe Carr IN primary come August. He badly needs West T Representative, not well known in local politics because he is a Conservative to boot! With more money ad a trail leading back to lamar alexander report of his unethical practipation.
Iraq has never known anything bt a dictatorship reg expect!
