Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is expected to defend the prisoner exchange that lead to the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl when he testifies before the House Armed Services Committee Wednesday.
Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby told The Associated Press that Hagel will explain to the committee that the Obama administration had a "very small, fleeting opportunity" to secure Bergdahl's release. Bergdahl was freed on May 31 after being held captive by the Taliban for almost five full years.
Kirby's description of a small window for the agreement meshed with comments by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who told reporters Tuesday that the administration finalized the exchange only a day before it took place. The Senate's No. 2-ranked Democrat also said American officials didn't learn the pickup location for Bergdahl until an hour ahead of time, making the question of advance notification irrelevant.

Expected to defend the “conspiracy”....and that’s what it was.
If Hagel gives his schpiel and no one makes much noise ... we had better, as a vanguard, call for action to re-claim our land.
one word. treason.
“didn’t learn the pickup location for Bergdahl until an hour ahead of time, making the question of advance notification irrelevant.”
Turbin Durbin has come up with some lame excuses for Obozo before but this one takes the cake. Congress didn’t need notification of the pickup point, the law requires notification of the attempt to release a POW/detainee from Gitmo. All of Obozo’s lackeys are going to burn in Hell.
It’s almost like Congress doesn’t have cell phones or any official system to contact them in case of an emergency.
” we had better, as a vanguard, call for action to re-claim our land.”

The way things are going, it will take an act of God to save America, and he is not talking. 48% (according to Rasmussen) still approve of the Commie Btard.
Chuck Hagel cannot articulate much less defend what he had for breakfast. Traitor, treasonous bastard.
” Traitor, treasonous bastard.”

Sadly, there are too few that are not.
Hagel is an unmitigated disaster as Defense sec.
He is a disaster as a human being.
didn’t care much for Senator Hagel and even less now
Hagel should use his testimony to resign his position and tell them that the president lied when he said it was Hagel’s idea. It was obviously the president who decided that we should trade the five prisioners for Bergdahl.
If Chuck has big bags under his eyes going into this meet, wait till this evening...
10.00 am EDT
But Chuck will be sworn to tell the truth - won't he?
Mr Hagel - you do realize that the people you are defending, supporting and work for are now throwing you under the bus for this deal. Would you now like to take this opportunity to do your partriotic duty and tell the American people the truth about how this deal went down and - how dangerous and bad it is for America?
That would rock O’s world for sure. It would be the honorable thing to do.
