A Senior Republican leadership aide described the mood as "chaos for the leadership ranks."
"We're absolutely stunned. Honestly, we really can't believe it," said the aide, who likened it to the 2004 election defeat of Tom Daschle of South Dakota, who was Senate minority leader at the time.
"Given the speculation Boehner himself may decide not to run again for speaker, the idea had been out there that Cantor would simply walk into the speakership," said the aide. "But now, who the hell would be the next speaker?"particularly, the aide added.

The “Tea Party is dead” meme, is dead.
I am sure he already has that Lobbyist job.
I wonder if that Irish trash @sshole from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who said the GOP shouldn’t even bother running a candidate in 2016 if they didn’t pass the Chamber-backed amnesty bill in 2014 realizes that he probably played a major role in Cantor’s defeat.
i am glad the gop-elite/rinos are scared and stunned.
mother-effers talking big against conservatives.
Is it just me or does this sound like the “I can’t believe Romney lost” talk in 1012?
Clearly the GOPe is full of clueless consultants pulling in big bucks.
we can never rest. not anymore.

All welfare recipients must show immigration documents, be blood tested for narcotics.
Any person furnishing info leading to the arrest of an illegal invader receives 20% of the value of the seized person’s assets in the USA.
End civil forfeiture for cops, take back all the “cool ninjya gear”.
In their dreams.
They made this bed. Now they get to sleep in it. They used Cantor to be the front man thinking he was invulnerable. Cantor before he rose in the ranks was a reliable strong conservative fighter. Its amazing how power corrupts. I didn’t expect Cantor to lose but this is a very healthy moment for the GOP. The left is going to be apoplectic with their rhetoric. They don’t even see how their chronic accusations of racism and bigotry are sounding increasingly tiny against the backdrop of people without jobs, people who don’t believe the American Dream is possible. They are setting the stage for their certain demise. Tonight was a an excellent indicator that not even money can stop you and the talk about how Cantor didn’t understand the threat and was taken aback. Hell the guy spent over a million dollars against a candidate with 200k.
I personally think that Cantor believed he was going to win. I did. I suspect that his call for call on Obama for an immigration compromise was to be a launching point post primary win to say “look I won on immigration compromise”. it may have been just stupidity also but this dominated the headlines leading up to today and I believe it led to his political demise.

Brat, who teaches at Randolph-Macon College near Richmond, Virginia, has slammed Cantors immigration reform stance during the campaign.
“Eric Cantor is saying we should bring more folks into the country, increase the labor supply and by doing so, lower wage rates for the working person,” Brat said, according to Reuters. “His policies make no sense.”
Amen.
I fantasize, but heads would truly explode.
Reminds me of that old line about "when the government fears the people, there is liberty". That makes me happy!
You’ve summed them up. Good job.
Seems like the GOPe has just been spanked by a Brat! ;)
Nailed it.
Hit the road Boehner, you’re finished!
Exactly.... we voted you in and we can vote you out....pay attention it isn’t about you DC whiners
