Beauty-pageant interviews tend to be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Usually, answers become famous by being the subject of mockery for a flubbed phrase or a nonsensical answer (see recent response by Miss South Carolina in 2007 and Miss Utah in 2013).
But a couple contestants in Sundays Miss USA pageant drew attention for coherent answers on some relatively touchy issues. The problem was that Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez and Miss Louisiana Brittany Guidrys views on a couple issues of the day didnt sit well with liberal commentators.
Take Sanchez, who went on to win the competition. When asked to address sexual assault on college campuses, her suggestion that women should learn self-defense abilities proved controversial.
I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation, and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they dont want that to come out into the public. But I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves. Myself, as a fourth-degree black-belt, I learned from a young age you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself, and I think that is something we should start to implement for a lot of women.
Cosmopolitan editor Elisa Benson and the Huffington Posts Mandy Velez both criticized Sanchez for her answer:
I get that the college sexual assault problem cant be solved in 30 secs but still icky to pretend like self defense is the answer. #MissUSA Elisa Benson (@elisabenson) June 9, 2014
Not happy she won.. RT @taramurtha Miss Nevada says teaching women self defense is the best way to reduce sexual assault on college campuses Mandy Velez (@mandy_velez) June 9, 2014
Lets hope Nevada uses her media tour to reiterate that teaching girls self defense is NOT the best way to protect against assault #MissUSA Mandy Velez (@mandy_velez) June 9, 2014
Other Twitter users took to social media to voice their opposition to her answer:
Ms Nevadas solution to sexual assault is to teach women to defend themselves. How about teach men not to rape? #MissUSA #YesAllWomen Karen Eileen (@KarenDuhe) June 9, 2014

The Left and their typical word spin.
This has nothing to do with rape and everything to do with whorish drunken behavior. I have seen this over and over again throughout my life and mainly because I have never been a drinker, more of a stoned bystander, watching people hook up drunk then regret it the next day.
My fiancé has a friend who has made the rape lie a number of times. She gets wasted, turns into a different person, then denies the whole thing when she is sober and claims the man took advantage of her while she was clearly the instigator. Ive seen it with my own eyes and watched her transform from a prudish girl into a full blown slut queen when drunk. Pulling her tits out, fondling men, begging for sex, ive seen it and ive seen her deny the entire thing the next day. When confronted with this, the Left always falls back on blaming our culture for Slut Shaming. The sad part is, it is the women who do the shaming. No women wants a drunken whore around because at some point, that slut will make a pass at their man.
Men need to know you DO NOT sleep with drunken women, period. They will sober up and sell you out as a rapist to cover their own shame. My best friends ex claimed she was raped in Galveston and it came out a few months later she cheated while drinking with “friends”. Women need to take ownership of themselves and their actions and get a damned grip on their drinking and drunken behavior.
“I love that they ask the Miss USA contestants tougher questions than anyone has ever asked Obama.”
Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner!

To the libs, telling women to carry a condom and a whistle.
Excellent point.
And how about teaching stupid Liberal women not to ask dumb questions in public?
And how about Conservative Alternative contests where contestants will be judged by conservative judges not by an inbred mob of Liberal Fascists? I'd watch and bet that the questions would be real zingers for the Obama hand puppets.

why are schools even having “tribunals”? (star chambers)
If it a real case of rape then there should be a criminal case with a full rape kit and test.
>> If only there was a law banning rape <<
I have a better idea:
Let’s also ban drunkeness. Or at least, female consumption of alcohol.
Men already know not to rape. It’s not that complicated. I defy anyone to present a rapist who honestly didn’t know he was doing wrong.
Physical self-defense is a rational back up to a firearm. I speak as a 6’2”, 190 lb, 3rd degree black belt who carries a gun.
ahh but with medical pot laws, it will be taking advantage of a poor sick woman who HAS TO use pot to endure life.
So, they are saying that men are responsible for women’s safety. Very equal of them.
“The best way to combat so-called 'date rape' is to avoid dating in college. Students are paying outrageous prices and going into enormous debt in order to get a degree. They are not there to drink beer and have sex ”
Yet, college is an appropriate place for one to meet one’s future mate. In fact, for many young men and women, it may be the best place to find a potential spouse before going off into the wider world.
Although many young gentlemen and ladies on campus might deny that their dating behavior has anything to do with finding Mr. or Ms. Right, I think that they are self-deceived. My older son is dating a very nice young lady right now, and their thoughts are on determining whether or not this is the right relationship for the rest of their lives. My son had previously broken up with another young lady because he determined that she wasn't the one for him for life, and found he had several young ladies lining up to take their turn at bat.
His friends marvel at his ability to attract pretty, intelligent young ladies. He is a serious-minded fellow, and I credit his success in these matters to three cardinal principles about which he is open, public, and quite firm: 1.) Although dating should be fun, he is ultimately looking for marriage; 2.) that the young lady must be Catholic (or willing to convert); and 3.) that they will remain chaste in the relationship.
This seems to go over very well with a certain portion of the fairer sex. A few young ladies have turned him down when he's asked for a date, but mostly, he's enjoyed a lot of nice times with a number of nice, eligible women. And, as I stated, he's currently in a long-term relationship with a very nice young woman.
The problem is that courting (if I may use such an old-fashioned term) has mutated to a confused state where young gentlemen and ladies put the cart before the horse, first “sampling” the “merchandise” and then establishing whether or not commitment is appropriate.
Once upon a time, this sort of behavior was considered immoral by nearly all. However, most young folks today don't believe that pre-marital sex is wrong, and thus, casual sex becomes part of the whole set of dating behaviors for many.
There is nothing wrong with dating while in college, but to do it right, one must be willing to swim against the tide.
My son thought his views and actions would invite ridicule from the other fellows on campus. Rather, he has won grudging admiration, especially since he has managed to date some fairly hot young ladies.

Simple. If an alleged rape is turned over to the police, then criminal prosecution standards will apply. Evidence is gathered, testimony is obtained and - most importantly - a presumption of innocence applies.
This leads to what the proponents of these alternative proceedings believe is an insufficient number of convictions. Accusers could have to continue to see the people they have accused on campus, with no sanctions taken against them. And legal proceedings do not comply with the Title IX directives handed down from the Obama Administration, which says that the standard should be “a preponderance of evidence” - 50% + - rather than “beyond reasonable doubt” in such cases. So to apply this lower standard and to raise the number of convictions and penalties against the accused, these alternative proceedings are being used.
Fortunately, there are more and more accused who, once having been sanctioned by such proceedings, are using Title IX itself to sue the schools - and win. It seems that Title IX says that you cannot discriminate on the basis of sex. It had not occurred to anyone that such language means that you cannot discriminate against men anymore than you can discriminate against women. That seems an unnatural concept to them - but the courts say differently.
Feminists believe all sex is rape therefore all sex should be convicted as a crime. By feminist rules that means a 100% conviction rate so the rules are meaningless.
