No injuries to boys, grandfather on their way to synagogue on Shavuot
Two French teenagers walking to synagogue with their grandfather last week to take part in the Shavuot tradition of staying up all night studying Hebrew texts were chased by an axe-wielding man and three accomplices, JTA reports. No one was injured in the incident, which took place in the French suburb of Romainville. The three were wearing yarmulkes, making this the latest in a series of assaults on visibly identifiable Jews across Paris.
The teens, aged 14 and 15, said they were walking to the Lilac Synagogue with their grandfather to attend Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a custom in which Jews study scripture all night. While crossing the town’s Market Square, the two boys and their grandfather, all wearing kippahs, said they were followed by a tall man in his 20s wearing a long beard. They described the man as having an athletic figure and an Arab appearance.
Producing a hatchet, the man began to chase the two boys, according to the BNVCA report, then whistled to three other men who joined the chase. The boys and their grandfather filed complaints with police, BNVCA President Sammy Ghozlan wrote.
The recent report that a whopping 75 percent of French Jews have considered emigrating is contextualized by recent incidents such as this one. Last month, a Jewish woman with a baby was attacked at a Paris bus station by a man who shouted “Dirty Jewess” at her. In March, a Jewish teacher leaving a kosher restaurant in Paris had his nose broken by a group of assailants who also drew a swastika on his chest. One week earlier, an Israeli man was attacked with a stun gun outside a Paris synagogue, and a week before that a 28-year-old Jewish man was beaten on the Paris metro to chants of “Jew, we are going to lay into you, you have no country.” In a chilling video from January, anti-government demonstrators shout “Jew, France is Not Yours” as they march through the streets of Paris.

Several Jewish teen were attacked by gangs with tear gas over the weekend. Really too many of these incidents to post. Understandable French Jews are leaving or considering leaving the country. Once they're gone, there's a surprise waiting for the Christians who are left. At least those who wouldn't be inclined to support a Vichy government, plenty did, or an Islamic government now
Yes, some Jews are leaving France, but the exodus is proportionally small compared to, e.g., the Jews of the Soviet Union in the 1980s, or Jews leaving Arab countries in the late 1940s and 1950s - at least not now. One can usually determine how bad anti-Semitism is in a particular country by looking at the percentages of Jews who are leaving, assuming they are allowed to leave.
It should be noted that some French Jews have very deep roots in France, with ancestors going back to the Napoleonic era. That may be a mitigating factor on the exodus that might be occurring.
Not very good French, but I get the drift. It's what the attackers (Arabs, in all likelihood) are thinking.

I sense the same “sentiment” accounted for the rather substantial number of Jews who didn’t leave Germany while they could, and will likely be the case for those in France.

I'd agree on Germany. Many Jews had thought of Germany as their homeland and never imagined what the Nazis were to do.
But I don't see France degenerating into a Nazi state, or more likely being conquered by radical Islamists who would impose Sharia law on the whole country, at least not before a massive civil war there.
They think France is theirs because the French government doesn't crack down on their crime.
Effectively, it is theirs. Won’t be official until someone spray paints a chadour onto the Mona Lisa’s face, of course. But that’s just a matter of time.
Jews had roots in many Arabic-speaking countries going back to Biblical times, but when it’s time to go, it’s time to go. No White Paper this time, fortunately. Come on home.
