I used to sit by the radio in the afternoons, GLUED to the chair, listening to Sergeant Preston Of the Yukon! Thanks for the memory blast!
That would be un-Canadian.
My post is based on actual news stories I’ve read not just my opinion. Come, you must admit that Canadian justice has been reluctant at times to give long jail time to convicted criminals. Look at Karla Homolka, serial killer now out of jail.
Two words: Graham James.
Big fan of Canada, but you can be just as light on justice up there as we are down here.
After Bourque’s arrest, I can now comment on the situation which led to these three deaths.
The officers on scene were improperly deployed. They were called to the scene because the perp was walking down the road carrying two rifles, dressed in military style clothing, and a load bearing harness. They were under armed
with only pistols and later a shotgun. They brought pea shooters to a rife battle.
The perp stood off at a distance , outside of the range for accurate pistol fire for 9mm Glocks carried by the officers, who faced pin point, accurate rifle fire.
The local SWAT team was not deployed until later after the officers were killed, and the perp went to ground.
The commanding officers are responsible for dispatching underarmed , improperly briefed police officers to what was in fact a combat scene, not a run of the mill call. Other officers rushed into the scene in support, improperly armed and improperly armoured for combat. This led to a slaughter.Heads in the Command structure should roll.
The lefty/liberal policy on weaponry in general in Canada effected the saftey of these officers. In Canada police
officers are NOT even allowed to carry a side arm when off duty.Their squad cars do not have rifles in their trunks, just the ocassional shot gun, ( 12 gauge). These deaths are the responnsibility of RCMP command who impliment the arming policy for RCMP officers, and the dastardly lefty politicians who create the horrible policies on firearms in Canada overall, and who have hamstrung the police. These lefty bastards now have blood on their hands. And no one will likely say a damn thing in public about it.
Thank you for the additional information. What a scumbag.
Enjoy!

They need tougher gun laws/s
AMEN!
Don’t know if it’s true but I *have* read that Canadian prisons are like country clubs compared to ours.If that’s true if you add no fear of execution to the country club atmosphere and one might ask “where’s the deterrent factor?”.And if,by chance, there’s no such thing as life without parole,as I believe is the case in Mexico (and other countries),well you get the picture.
Not that this is directly connected to this ugly situation but a few years ago I was detained at a Canadian border crossing for 90 minutes while being peppered with questions regarding firearms. My criminal record...worldwide...couldn't be cleaner.Never a conviction for *littering* let alone anything more serious.I took this incident as an indication that Canada has very,*very* strict gun laws.
I had a similar experience there, similarly completely clean except for ticketed running a red light a decade prior, though it took much less time to get through. That was my impression about Canada too.

These laws do not work beause they are niot enforced. The perp in this case was mentally unbalanced and showed overwhelming public signs of it on social media, yet the provincial Chief Firearms Officer ( CFO) did not remove Bourques gun permit and his guns as HE SHOULD HAVE DONE ACCORDING TO LAW.
The forearms laws were there to prevent these killings, they just were not enforced, there are not enough staff or
field officers to enforce the laws already on the books.
Gun Control does not work. An armed neighbor should have dropped him.
