The Surprising Way Obama Will Finally Get Rid of Guns (“Operation Chokepoint.”)
The Right To Bear ^ | June 1, 2014 | The Right To Bear

Posted on 06/05/2014 8:08:03 AM PDT by Cheerio

Weeks ago it was revealed the Department of Justice was working with the FDIC to provide new monetary regulations that would halt the sale of guns by licensed gun dealers.

Though Obama maintains that he only wants to enforce “reasonable, common sense” gun control, when you peak behind the curtain it’s easy to see this is just a magic trick he’s using to distract Americans from what’s really happening.

So how is Obama going to finally starve Americans of access to firearms? It’s called “Operation Chokepoint.”

Operation Chokepoint is a devious means of shutting down gun stores by blocking them from obtaining credit and even basic banking services.

Operation Chokepoint works directly with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and lumps gun sellers into the same category as “high risk” businesses like pornographers, head shops, and pyramid schemes to prevent lending institutions from providing them with open lines of credit to fund their businesses.

**Even worse is believing that DHS knew this was coming, but didn't have the resources or ability to cut through bureaucratic red tape to prepare more quickly.**

Not only did they know it was coming, they probably planned it this way.

But to say dhs didn't have the resources or the ability to cut through the red tape is utter nonsense. Or worse, a lie.

Congress has the purse strings, right?

The GOP-e is so cowed after the media thrashing they got over the 2013 Govt shutdown they will never ever again try it. I don't agree with the GOP-e. Cruz is a darling but the "graybeards" are running the GOP and cannot even stand to look at their own shadow they are such spineless wussies. Even moderate GOPers have stated another Gov shutdown shall never occur - so they have taken out of circulation the only tool they have to block our national clown and his wrecking ball. They GOP could not stand the heat of the battle and caved like they do on every single policy issue that has come our way since 2010, when we gave them the US House.

Cruz: GOP leads in 2014 because of shutdown

I would dispute your implication that the military would stand against the American Public. I think the whole Bergdahl debacle demonstrates the military culture is rooted in traditional American values. I think a military coup disposing a leftist leader to be a more likely scenario than one in which the American people are oppressed by a military back totalitarian.

With the recent (last 6 years) purchasing “spree” of firearms and ammunition, I believe it’s too late to change it...only the attempted confiscation of private firearms will make any impact and we all know once that starts it’s “game on”...(not saying it’s a game).

I said deliberately and meant it.

By any reasonable analysis, it does appear this clown wants a civil war during his reign. In such a manner he gets to finish off the TRANSFORMATION he ran on, and America apparently elected him to accomplish. Enjoy, all you millennials that made this happen.

Maybe so. But there are still viable weapons and accessories still out there. It takes resolve to not let the opportunity slip away.

There is no mistake about it. The government may not be able to legally keep you from getting what you have a right to, but they will try anything and everything to keep you from getting it. It takes commitment and determination.

Instead of buying that $1-2000 graphite bike, or that hog, or whatever, get a decent weapon (rifle, shotgun and pistol) - get more than one, enough for your whole family.

Unfortunately, unless challenged, this administration will do whatever the hell they want, by executive fiat, to achieve liberal goals. I’m sure it’s a liberal dream to drive gun dealers out of business.

Liberals are strange. They are pro-choice on abortion. They say if you don’t like homosexual marriage, then don’t marry a same sex partner. But when it comes to guns, why don’t they take their own advice, and if they don’t like guns, don’t buy a gun. Why aren’t they pro-choice on the issue of guns?

Private sales are banned in Illinois now. Sigh :(

Colorado, too. But no matter. We're not abiding by it.

I will be writing an editorial: Another government shutdown in 2014 is UNAVOIDABLE.

The Koch Brothers should write them all lines of credit and increase their wealth by a factor of a thousand.

Funny how the left will throw their own sex maniac and hippie base under the bus in exchange for an opportunity to control the regular joe who wants to utilize their 2nd amendment rights...

[ “We need that anonymous gazillionaire to open the 2nd Amendment Bank of America.”

Excellent idea.

I believe the FDIC is a voluntary organization and you can use state-charted banks. ]

I wonder if this would make Texas the new banking capital of North America....

"A prudent man would have foreseen what was coming back before the..." 1934 National Firearms Act.

The point is, they didn't care about anyone owning them in '34 or '94. The intent each time was to whittle down each generations rights and brainwash each successive generation with a total ban in, lets say, 2024, when all of the prudent men are gone.

You’re right. But you have to deal with what you have. In most states you aren’t restricted as to ownership. You may have to jump through some hoops, but you can still get them in the midst of doing your vehement best in working to destroy the apparatus that seeks to limit your rights.

How can we have a governmental operation to deny them banking services? On what legal basis?

******************************

“Legal” has no meaning to this administration/DOJ. “Illegal” on the other hand or ‘lawless’ ... that’s how they operate.
