An Obama administration official upset with the direction of the Bergdhal story voiced his concern on Twitter on Wednesday, floating a theory that put Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in a more sympathetic light--and his fellow soldiers as part of the problem.
The American people, he argued, were too quick to jump to conclusions about Bergdahl after his fellow soldiers spoke out about his disappearance.
Here's the thing about Bergdahl and the Jump-to-Conclusions mats: What if his platoon was long on psychopaths and short on leadership? asked Brandon Friedman, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at Department of Housing and Urban Development, in a series of Twitter posts.
What if he grew disillusioned with what he saw, didn't trust his leadership, and walked off?, he continued.Legal? No. Worthy of sympathy? Maybe. If that were the case, the soldiers in his platoon would have all the more reason to smear him publicly now.
Friedman, a former infantry officer in the Army, has been awarded two Bronze Stars for his service in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is also the author of The War I Always Wanted, a book that details his disillusionment with the U.S. Army and the decision to go to war in Iraq.
Friedman insisted that his theory was not out of the realm of possibility and called for Americans to withhold judgment until they heard both sides of the story.
Im not a fan of such speculation, but this story could not be more unbalanced - with so many premature calls of traitor, he concluded.
Friedman has weighed in on the Bergdahl case in several other posts, in which he scorns critics.

This White House attempt at floating this line of “reasoning” as a trial balloon to see if the media lapdogs will buy it, is more of a Hindenburg....
If nothing fits to support their story/theory, they just make crap up. It is disgusting.
At least until the media can come up with somebody —ANYBODY— who worked with him and has an opinion exonerating him that they can focus on to counter the gazillion soldiers who know him as a deserter.
“called for Americans to withhold judgment until they heard both sides of the story.”
Spoken by a career climber in an organization that routinely and viciously squashes or hides the other side of any story.
What if his Commander In Chief were a communist. anti-American, Muslim, foreign born, homosexual, psychopath, hell bent on destroying America? I think that about covers the bases. However, I feel there are a couple of hundred items I failed to mention.
And Bowe Bergdahl was the only sane person in his entire outpost?
Private Slovik died for far less of an infraction.
WHOA That is so right.
Just have probably permanently split with liberal relative who thinks exactly like that. I have determined she is just a nutcase, and it is of no use for me to try to have any contact with her, as she will ALWAYS interpret things to the conclusion that I am evil and trying to offend her. It is quite sad, really.
It another ‘Bitter clingers’ redux.
Why make it harder than it is?
Just be thankful you’re not hearing the ...’what do you expect? those accusations are all coming from white Christian males’...
...because those times are approaching and someday that will be a legitimate spin.
I’d say it’s about 6% Bergdahls and the rest are mostly regular people like the guys from his platoon who have spoken about the situation on camera.
Can’t the media find anybody he knew who may have attented a Tea Party rally?...(Sarc. extreme)
What if monkeys flew out of my butt?
“called for Americans to withhold judgment until they heard both sides of the story.”
Side one of the story: Bergdahl’s platoon members report he deserted.
Side Two of the story” The Army says Bergdahl walked off/deserted more than once.
Conclusion: Bergdahl deserted.
Maggott went a little off the rails though, didn’t he?
In the mid-60s I had a friend who went bonkers. I went to the mental hospital where he was staying in Norfolk, Virginia. As soon as I walked into his room he shouted, “I’m not crazy! All of these Sons-of-Bs are crazy! Get me outta here!”
Maybe that is what is going on with the lunatic who said this.
The Police acted stupidly...
If I had a Son, he would look like Trayvon...
Yep, wait for both sides of the story.
Deluded souls.
>”What if his ADMINISTRATION was long on psychopaths and short on leadership? asked Brandon Friedman”<
Fixed it...
