So how does that work with the Army? If he renounced his citizenship, can the Army still court-martial him? Does the Army have any authority over him at all at this (non-citizen) point?
Any vets or active-duty who can address the UCMJ on this?

Soebarkah: “Really?? Me too!! When I was 20 I did something that legally renounced my US citizenship. I was in Indonesia and I decided to renew the passport my mom and step-dad got for me as a child, which I had to do before I turned 21. I wanted to be able to freely come and go from Indonesia as I pleased and also to travel to other countries without being identified as an American. They told me that under their law I had to choose, I could either be an Indonesian or an American but not both. Remember, Americans had just elected the fascist reactionary Ronald Reagan. Later, I saw that everything I feared about him was true when he tried to crush the socialist movement in Nicaragua and litter Europe with missiles. So it wasn’t a hard choice. But of course I didn’t tell the Americans what I did! Hahahahahaha!”
Bob Bergdahl: “Wait, I thought it wasn’t a problem for people to have dual passports?”
Soebarkah: “Not if you voluntarily do it as an adult, and the country you get the other passport from requires you to state that you relinquish all other nationalities because they don’t allow dual citizenship.”

Soebarkah: “Anyway, don’t worry about that, Bob. Unlike what I did, just leaving a note is not enough to revoke his American citizenship.”
