PLAYHOUSE THEATERThis show was a CBS anthology series that followed The Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday nights in the Fifties.
A few years ago I covered many of the short piano pieces that Rossini wrote in his final days, titled Sins of My Old Age. One of these, A Little Caprice in the Style of Offenbach, was chosen as the theme.

FIRING LINEWilliam Buckleys long-running show on PBS featured a theme drawn from Bach. It was fun watching Buckley eviscerate some guest from the Left on a weekly basis.
Buckleys home had a top quality harpsichord, and he had some gifts as keyboard player himself. But the main purpose of the harpsichord was for Buckleys guests to play, and among his house guests were some of the best Baroque keyboard players in the game.
Buckley was a great admirer of the mathematical precision of Bach, so it was no surprise that he would choose as his shows theme the finale of Bachs Brandenburg Concerto #2 in F.
