A chilling message from the cartels: Billboards with hanging mannequins warning cops to choose 'silver over lead' appear in Texas

Two frightening incidents of vandalism in El Paso near the Mexican border in Texas have been interpreted as warnings from drug cartels. In both instances, a mannequin wearing a suit and tie was tied to a billboard with a noose and messages were scrawled over the placards. Local station KHOU reports that one of the signs reads 'Plata o Plombo' which translates to 'silver or lead', a threat used commonly against police officers effectively warning that if they do not accept the cartel's bribes then they will be shot.

Anybody still think there’s a dime’s worth of difference between a Muslin jihadist & a Mexican cartel member? They are natural allies.

@celmak- Yes, it is. And we should treat it as such. There’s a lot of space in South & West Texas, & not many people.

borderlandbeat.com has some additional:

” However, New Era Films, reported to KXAN El Paso, that is in the planning stages of making a film titled “Plata O Plomo.” The CEO for the company told El Paso media that no one from their business orchestrated the displays. But they did say a marketing campaign with similar artwork had been planned.

The movie is supposed to be a fictional tale of drug cartel violence, and is set along the El Paso-Juãrez border.”

http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2014/05/narco-war-billboards-mysteriously.html

So, we’ll have to find out more about this story.

I agree with others here though, if some attack happened, we’d need to do like in the days of BlackJack Pershing and send a force down there.

Mexico has been fighting this war but why can’t they burn the marijuana and opium fields? That’s what they should do. I know, the answer is obvious, because the Mexican Government, Fed to local is corrupt too.

Mexico nowadays is the definition of “hellhole”.

In Michoacan Mexico, Central Mexico, Auto-defensa groups (Self-Defense, a bit like Vigilante) groups have been set up and they have from the news, been throwing the tyrannical cartel of that area out and liberating the people.

Violence is the only message thugs understand. Bring it to THEM - high, hard, and continuously.

From http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2013/05/mapping-incredible-spread-of-mexican.html

... There are only twelve (states) that haven't reported the presence of one of four Mexican cartels since 2008: Alabama, Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The Mexican drug trade is everywhere else...

Coincidences occur fast and furiously with this administration.

"KHOU is not a local station. The HOU is for Houston."

Yes, KHOU is a local station. In the Houston area it is a local CBS-affiliated television station, channel 11 on the VHF dial. It has been a local station since 1953.

I was born in el Paso, left there 30 years ago. Almost all of our neighbors had been burglarized and we lived in a ‘good’ part of town.

This news article has the same air of truth as those saying how successful Obamacare has been.

I am a native El Pasoan. Our history spans over 480 years beginning with Juan de Onate. The spaniards came through here first, for the most part. We have missions older than anything in Cali and the east coast where the yankees live - basically the entire US. Our culture is unique to say the least. You will not find better Mexican food or steak in the entire country, not even the rest of Texas. It is also home to one of the largest military complexes in the US. In spite of what you may think or have experienced in a drive through, El Pasoans are very friendly, especially if you can speak some Spanish. Are there drug lords and cartel influence here? Heck yes! But nothing like DC! :)

“Reported by the United Kingdom. Is the US media covering this?”

OH hell no....

Too many Democrats, liberal agendas, issues groups, and journalists jobs could be affected by reporting things like this nationally.

Now, if latins voted Republican, and a Repub were president, you can BET this would be getting 24/7 coverage.

You have got to be kidding me! This is a declaration of war against us!

The federal government won't do anything, the state won't do anything, local municipalities won't do anything, and the people won't do anything because if they do, the federal government will throw them in jail for life.

It’s time to declare a state of emergency and send the Texas National Guard to El Paso.

About as much chance of him doing that as me winning the lottery, and I don't have a ticket.

The story takes place in El Paso. KHOU is in Houston. The writer said it was a local station. A local station would be in El Paso.
