On Ora.TV's "Politicking" on Wednesday, host Larry King asked Meghan McCain if her father, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), made a mistake in picking former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) for his running mate in the 2008 presidential elections against then-Sen Barack Obama (D-IL).
"No I don't believe so," she replied. "My father could have had Jesus Christ as his running mate and it wouldn't have mattered."

Does she ever stop running that stupid mouth?
It looked to me as though, if McCain had let Palin take control or at least have an equal voice in the campaign, we could have won that race, and the future would have looked good with a president Palin on the horizon.
I’m not sure he would have treated Jesus any better than he treated Sarah. The McCains will use the name “Jesus” but don’t dare say the name “Hussein”.
Well, I’m not keen on her word choice, but I’m going to cut Megan McCain some slack here. She defends Palin (a bit, anyway) in the clip, and she’s not entirely wrong about her dad’s chances. 2008 was a tough, tough year for Republicans, and after the financial meltdown, McCain’s chances went up in smoke.
Sarah Palin was the only one on either ticket with executive experience and a record of accomplishment. Now everyone knows what we all knew back then:
1) McCain is a faux conservative.
2) Biden is a doofus.
3) Barak Obama easily makes Jimmy Carter the 2nd worst president in the nations history.
She gets it from her dad! If she were flying airplanes she would crash a lot just like her dad did.
LOL!!!
Finally she says something true. Obama was the Chosen One. The American People pissed away 232 years of our history and elected an anti-American charlatan. NO ONE could have defeated him.
Ummmm - Larry. I wasn't going to bother to vote until McLame picked Palin.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!??
Of the 2008 race...considering the four ‘players’, it was the most marginal group in the past fifty years to run for office. McCain and Biden were career Senators, with blemished records and had shown incompetence at various levels. Obama and Palin both lacked experience, and had short resumes. If Palin had served two terms as governor of Alaska....I might feel different, but she really didn’t have a long record to make her attractive at the national position.
This was one of her better comments, she was asked if it was a mistake for her dad to choose Sarah Palin, and she said No, I don’t think so. That’s about as good as we can expect from his daughter and even Jesus couldn’t have saved her dad. Jesus could walk on water and rise after being dead for 3 days Meghan, I think he could help your dad win an election if he wanted him to win!
Actually, I agree with her.
McCain was such a horrible choice for a presidential candidate, he indeed probably would have lost no matter who he ran with.
I bet a very large percent of the votes for that ticket were ONLY because of Sarah Palin. I know mine was.
“...but she really didn’t have a long record to make her attractive at the national position.”
Part of her appeal is that she is NOT a career politician, but instead is “one of us”.
She would have made a better president than Obama, Biden, McCain, Romney or Ryan.
It was his turn, like it was Dole’s turn. Nothing more than a pathetic exhibition of senior stamina.
IMO, if Palin wasn’t chosen, McCain would have lost by 30 points. Once she was chosen, her sound bites overshadowed his own. That’s why she was so effective in helping him avoid a real drubbing.
It was a very tough year, and every time McCain opened his yap, he cost the team votes. Remember that doozie, him defending Obama, telling folks they had nothing to fear from an Obama victory?
She wasn’t muzzled. He was just too big an idiot to rescue.
So basically, she’s saying he’s the biggest loser EVER!
