These Maps Show How Segregated The US Still Is

America might be less segregated now than ever, but it remains far from total racial integration.
2010 Census maps, posted to Reddit by user DMan9797, illustrate this point well.
Check out the maps, in which darker spots show higher population density for a particular race (click here for larger versions):
The highest concentration of African-Americans is in the Southeast:

I don’t think it has to do with race at all. I just think that it appears that African Americans enjoy living in the Southeast at greater numbers. Otherwise they would have moved up North or West by now.
Segregated? This is a free country.
Now look at Mexican-Ameircans, and it is virtually an exact opposite chart.
Then look at Asian-Americans.
America is integrated.
Good Grief! The only solution to achieve “total racial integration” is forced busing. Let’s take some of those people of color out of the southeast and put them into the whiter area’s. That will surely solve the problem
Funny how Moochelle starts the meme that we are re-segregating and then all these articles start popping up.
Or moving back. I met a young African American man in MEMPHIS that had moved from Wisconsin. Liked the weather and JOB opportunities of the south!!!
The non-Hispanic white population is projected to peak in 2024, at 199.6 million, up from 197.8 million in 2012. Unlike other race or ethnic groups, however, its population is projected to slowly decrease, falling by nearly 20.6 million from 2024 to 2060. The black population is expected to increase from 41.2 million to 61.8 million over the same period. Its share of the total population would rise slightly, from 13.1 percent in 2012 to 14.7 percent in 2060. The Asian population is projected to more than double, from 15.9 million in 2012 to 34.4 million in 2060, with its share of nation's total population climbing from 5.1 percent to 8.2 percent in the same period.
Among the remaining race groups, American Indians and Alaska Natives would increase by more than half from now to 2060, from 3.9 million to 6.3 million, with their share of the total population edging up from 1.2 percent to 1.5 percent. The Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population is expected to nearly double, from 706,000 to 1.4 million. The number of people who identify themselves as being of two or more races is projected to more than triple, from 7.5 million to 26.7 million over the same period.
The U.S. is projected to become a majority-minority nation for the first time in 2043. While the non-Hispanic white population will remain the largest single group, no group will make up a majority.
All in all, minorities, now 37 percent of the U.S. population, are projected to comprise 57 percent of the population in 2060. (Minorities consist of all but the single-race, non-Hispanic white population.) The total minority population would more than double, from 116.2 million to 241.3 million over the period.
The nations total population would cross the 400 million mark in 2051, reaching 420.3 million in 2060
I don’t see how that necessarily shows how segregated we are, it just shows where the highest concentration of blacks are, at least on that first map.
And besides, I am not one who thinks self-segregation is necessarily a bad thing.
If it is, then the Congressional Black Caucus must disintegrate. Right?
People segregate normally. No Hand-wringing liberal stupidity can change that. The Segregation Laws no longer exist so there is nothing they can do since human nature has not changed nor will it.
This whole segregation BS now is nothing more then election year disinformation to fire up the gullible democrat base who still believes the race card is working.
Bingo. This map shows my county as being “Less than 1%”. The county where I live is 23% Caucasian (aka, “white, not Hispanic”). The rest is made up of “minorities” or as the commie libs have labeled them, “people of color”.
I think you may be right. Require every other black family in every county that has over 25% black population to move to states that are under represented.
Just look at how that would help cities like Chicago lower their crime rate. Of course, cities like Bismark would have a spike. But that would help even things out.
Just a thought.
Democrats want and need racial segregation. Racial gerrymandering depends on it.
How could Democrats force solidly Democrat voting minority districts through the courts without racial segregation?
I feel so . . . . guilty.
I am SICK to Death of this race crap!
That being said - I choose to live where I feel safe and I won’t be moving to Chicago ever....or east L.A. or Oakland....

The term “segregation” is misused here. Segregation is separation of the races mandated by law. There hasn’t been statutory segregation in the United States in my lifetime.
