The Right Sector is the most radical wing of Ukraine's Maidan protest movement that toppled President Viktor Yanukovych in February.
Originally set up as an alliance of ultra-nationalist groups in November 2013, the Right Sector is now a party and its leader, Dmytro Yarosh, is running for president in the 25 May election - although his poll rating is negligible.
Critics at home say the party's inflammatory rhetoric and violence is helping Russian media to depict Ukraine as overrun with "neo-Nazis" who threaten the Russian-speaking population.
The Right Sector is trying to portray itself as a responsible party, but enough doubts remain about its attitude and intentions to cause unease in both pro-Kiev and pro-Moscow camps.
Protest role
Activists claiming to be Right Sector members were involved in Kiev's Maidan protests from late November, but the group did not attract much attention until violent clashes with police in central Kiev on 19 January, in which it played a leading role.
By early February Mr Yarosh was saying the Right Sector had 500 fighters on Independence Square and could mobilise up to 5,000 nationwide, although close observers of the protests doubt this.

Yes, I too, was surprised about several sites (both form the left and right) and what they posted in the media reports about Ukraine initially. They tried to warn the Obama adm., but the Obama administration has the anti-Midas touch. The Obama administration seems to have some supporters here at FR, who, by indirection, seem to want Obama to give arms to Ukraine and/or do yet another Lybia thing.
Yes, we have some who lap up the MSM narrative (although some MSM outlets still haven’t accepted being told to shut up). And they are called names for doing so, be they news sources from the left or the right.
When you have both the left and the right still posting stuff about the fascists in Ukraine, and they are taken to task for doing so, you can almost bet that it is coming from GOP Establishment hacks that want interventionism.
Yes, there are still Commies in Ukraine, and they stink to high heaven, too, but they, as you can see from the beat down that some of them took in a parliament meeting in Ukraine, are weak compared to the fascists in Ukraine.
Like I have said, tis’ best that we stay out of this.
Fascism in Ukraine is nothing to get in bed with.
Obama has the anti-Midas touch, and most Americans look back to Libya (Benghazi), Syria, Egypt under the Muslim Brotherhood (Obama Adm.: the Muslim Brotherhood are “largely secular”) fiasco, and want NOTHING to do with Ukraine now.
Even Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East (and I hope its stays that way) voted NO in the UN - and wants to stay out of this - like most Americans...
Who said that, comrade?
Did I post it to an ACTUAL person like you did in #18 and #21?
No I didn’t, troll.
Apples to Oranges...
While Svoboda and Right Sector don’t have much support now, they were quite instrumental in the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych, as the BBC article says. The MSM (both left and right) reported on this, and how they were dangerous elements.
radical Svoboda has three top positions in the Ukraine gov’t right now, as the BBC article says. Apparently still in the mix of things...
A member of the Other Russia party led by National Bolshevik leader Edward Limonov, Rostislav Zhuravlyov is believed to have negotiated with the SBU attempting to obtain Gubarevs release.
And you have never went on other threads by other posters here and did what I did in post #3?
But...you do that AND what you did in post #18 and #21, too.
No one forced you to come on this thread and post after you read post #3...but you did anyway. Guilty conscience and angry after reading post #3? LOL.
What do they remind you of?
I'm sure I probably have. I am certain, however, that I didn't whine about personal attacks after doing so.
The Not-a-Nazi-Nazi’s caused more rioting in Kiev last night.
But remember, despite the celebration of Nazi’s, the Nazi flags, and the Nazi beliefs, these aren’t Nazi’s!!
Stretches the imagination a bit, doesn’t it?
Isee a great Monty Python skit here.
“NO ONE expects the Ukrainian Nazi’s!!”
.....”Fascism in Ukraine is nothing to get in bed with”.....
Too late for the US/EU...they’ve already stepped over that line and continue to snuggle up.
At least the Ukrainians see what they are contending with....sheesh when people realize there’s more than one war going on in Ukraine then they can get the whole picture.
Please direct me to the thread where I’ve done it, comrade.
By calling mac_truck “comrade” for no observable, evidence based reason, you yourself show that this is your MO. LOLOLOL. :)
