CBS LA ^ | April 29, 2014 | Unattributed

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be suspended for life and fined $2.5 million in response to the racist remarks he allegedly made in a recorded audio clip.

Silver spoke to the press at 11 a.m. news conference from New York, stating he will “do everything in my power” to force the sale of the Clippers.

“The hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling. The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage,” Silver said. “I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers association or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or decisions involving the team.”

I think the old man was set up by the girl friend, working with Magic. Now Magic gets the team. What a coincidence.

And the penny drops.

This is just so wrong.

Look what Bubba got away with...and the Prell boy...and...and....

And what the rappers get away with in their world where wmf is everyday talk.

Racism may be wrong but it will always exist and it's a two way street and it is not a crime.

Hope all those black players who have made their living for throwing a ball in a basket...rot in hell...

Besides, imaginge the contents of the DISCOVERY process.

All communications between the other owners, NBA offices and Players Union.

Yep, the man would be crazy not to sue.

Donald Sterling’s ties to NAACP under scrutiny after race recording

The L.A. chapter of the NAACP withdraws an award it had planned to give to the Clippers’ owner. But some question why it associated itself with Sterling for all these years.

http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-donald-sterling-naacp-20140429,0,4522042.story#ixzz30IvaFK1S

Sterling had been a prominent donor to the NAACP chapter for more than a decade. He ran newspaper ads touting his charity’s generosity to L.A. organizations that help the poor communities.

But the real estate magnate had just paid $2.73 million to settle U.S. government claims that he refused to rent his apartments to Latinos and blacks in Koreatown.

“The NAACP airbrushed this away and simply said that Sterling has been a gem in giving oodles of tickets away to needy inner city kids and ladling out some cash to charities and sports camps for them,” community activist Earl Ofari Hutchinson wrote at the time on his website.

The organization decided to go ahead give him the award. And in May, it was set to hand him a second honor as part of a gala marking the NAACP’s 100th anniversary.

I heard the recording and what I heard was the odd rambling negotiation of a man whose gf is out having sex with a bunch of black men and he doesn’t like being made a public cuckold.

He literally says that he doesn’t care with whom she sleeps with, but just don’t make it public. Then he goes into a weird argument about why she should stay away from black men - because she’s making him a cuckold.

He may be a sick and weak dude, but his abject, Hitlerarian racism is still undetermined.

(By the way, his gf has a serious and twisted black man fetish which sort of makes her the actual racist.)

In summary, everyone involved - including the racist players who constantly say racist things on and off the court - should be shunned by normal society and this story is stupid.

This can't be legal. And if he's suspended for life, why the hell would he give the NBA a nickel?

I'd tell the NBA and Sharpton to kiss my big white wrinkley rich ass.

NAACP Willing to ‘Forgive’ Clippers’ Donald Sterling After Yanking Award

The NAACP said today they are still willing to work with Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling despite yanking an offer of a lifetime achievement award over an audio tape containing racist comments that Sterling allegedly made.

At a news conference today, NAACP Los Angeles president Leon Jenkins said that an audio recording that surfaced this weekend on TMZ, which purportedly had Sterling’s voice recorded making racist comments, was “devastating.”

But the organization would be open to talking to Sterling, with whom they’ve worked for nearly 20 years.

“We are negotiating with him about giving more moneys to African American students at UCLA, and so we are in preliminary discussions,” Jenkins said. He also noted, however, they had not spoken since the scandal broke.

Actually, that pic is incorrect since there are hardly any white players in the Negro Bassaball Association

Funny to watch the lynching of Sterling and the celebration following his ban/fine on Twitter...players have had no issue with taking his money all along...if he was so bad, then why hasn’t this been an issue before? He sucked as an owner for so long, just like Stepien of the Cavs, but this was wrong...

I will never spend a dime again on the NBA. Wonder how many other fans feel the same way? Whites are the largest percentage of fans...no more from this white guy.

I may apply for the NBA draft, though, since racial quotas are sure to follow, right? Let’s be fair...

Sterling was lynched...

“And to seal the deal, the NBA made it clear today that the action was solely due to the recording, and had nothing to do with any previous rumors or transgressions…..so you may just be right.”

Considering that this Democrat billionaire was in federal court losing a racial discrimination case relating to fair housing, I’d say that the NBA can’t make that claim... they will try, however.

Donald Sterling’s donations to NAACP led to latest award

The amount Sterling has given to the L.A. NAACP branch was not revealed at a news conference Monday held by L.A. branch president Leon Jenkins.

“It’s an insignificant amount of money, and we’re going to return it,” said Jenkins, who added the NAACP and Sterling have had a relationship for “maybe 15-20 years.”

Jenkins said the NAACP decided to honor Sterling because of “a body of work. Mr. Sterling’s organization has on a consistent basis brought in the minority community. He has also over the years contributed to a number of minority charities. Compared to other L.A. franchises, his organization gave more money than the others.”

If they ban him, does that mean he can’t own the team? Or he can still own the team but can’t show up to games?

the NBA should be shunned by everyone until their racial mix more resembles the make up of the population of the US and not of Detroit

What is the incentive for anyone trying to own one of these teams when you can be controlled like you are owed, I.e. A slave.

This seems to me like a rush to judgement.

This whole issue first hit the news on Saturday, becoming a firestorm over the weekend.

Here it is Tuesday afternoon, 3 days later, and we already have a judgement, fine, penalty, course of action set. 3 days is hardly enough time to do any thorough investigation, including the fact that this girl probably illegally taped conversations, background checks of the girl, Sterling, and any others involved, whether the NBA can be sued by anyone for imposing the penalty, etc.

I really would expect a longer investigation, rather than what appears to be a rush to judgement.
