It was a stupid, stupid line. I said so an hour later and got hammered on FR. Ridiculous. Any interpretation you put on her line, it is wrong from a Christian perspective.
I think Palin tried to make a populist comment that would be catchy and stick with people. It was a mistake. That being said, I think her heart was in the right place. I wouldn’t ride her hard about it. It should be recognized as wrong and we should move along.
It’s not substantive as far as policy goes, the baptism part of it. It did convey she’s on the right side of water-boarding. That’s a positive.

I was not surprised some Christians seemed to be offended by the terminology used, but I also think most can easily let it roll off their shoulder as well.
