Rancher Cliven Bundy decided to lecture his supporters on slavery and the “negro” on Saturday. Media Matters posted the video:

Dude?

The Washington Post posted his comments:

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

I’ve attacked Bundy’s legal arguments from the start. However, the overreach by the BLM & USFS, and their rejection of public law by rejecting multiple use and replacing it with preservation, remains the same no matter what.

When I talk to people about this situation, I try to turn it into a conversation about government overreach, and the arbitrary abuse of power that allowed Hage to get a partial win in court. I ask them why a land management agency needs a SWAT team. I ask them why the feds go after cattle, but ignore illegal immigrants. I ask them if they think MEXICAN CATTLE would have been pursued for being on federal land.

I bring up Tombstone AZ and its fight to repair waterlines that existed for 100 years before the land was called a wilderness area. I bring up our local county and how its SWAT team fired 70+ bullets at a guy, hitting him about 20 and spraying bullets into neighboring homes, all to serve a search warrant that turned up a ball cap.

This is not about what a fine fellow Bundy is. It is about what an abusive government our alphabet agencies have turned into, and how their actions sometimes succeed in ‘shocking the conscience of the Court’...

Its not so much a speech I was referring to, but a report and book.

Google the Moynihan Report, The Negro Family, A Case for National Action and specifically Moynihan's Scissors.

Instead he will be dismissed as a bigot, and the media and leftists will say that anyone who agrees with him on anything is a bigot by association.

And this is new? If it wasn't this, it would be something else. Piss on all of them.

To be fair, no speech that starts off with “Let me tell you about the Negro” can possibly end well. He’s done.

In your Lefty world. You losing sleep over it?

Isn't the FR a place to air different opinions?

Here's what the boss says, along with my comments presented respectfully thereafter:

Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.

As I see it, and I pinged Mr. Robinson to make sure I'm not misconstruing his words, the purpose of Free Republic is for pro-God, pro-life Conservative Activism. In my opinion, there can be minor differences of opinions about how best to advocate the Conservative Cause and those can be debated, often passionately. But -- again IMHO -- this forum isn't the place to "debate" or stand for anything that erodes our freedoms, granted to us not by a king or any man but solely by God.

People who advocate for keeping poor people down on the government plantation are highfalutin folks who don’t cotton to plain old fashioned racism.

Then it should be a simple task of finding out just how many ranchers are left in Clark county then.

I agree with you, Jim, but I seriously doubt if talking head conservatives are going to give Mr. Bundy any more airtime.

Only God can pull it off for him now.

It saddens me because his was the cutting edge case that required the Fed to back down and admit it is wrong to continue to cling to that land.

That doesn’t mean we can’t still have his back.

Waiting to see what God does with this.

I have seen the growth of Las Vegas from 1974 to 2010.

Amazing and thanks for posting. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. What the source of that map? I ask because I'd like to see one for certain parts of Texas. And is Las Vagas' growth mostly to the west as that map shows or in all directions?

Didn’t it occur to him that he was handing his enemies the perfect weapon that could be used to destroy whatever credibility he had?

And? Do you care about his enemies? Was he wrong? Why? Don't go into a knee-jerk defence mode, ask yourself why you are offended when someone is not PC. Are you PC? Then what are you doing here? If you are not PC, why are you posting this drivel? Think, man, think.

You're completely missing my point. It's not a question of being "PC." He was winning the battle with BLM. Public support was on his side. He should have stayed focused on the key issue here, instead of veering off into other areas that gave Harry Reid and the feds the opportunity to divert attention from the issue at hand. Think, man think.

I have noticed on all threads that are not PC, there are initially pages of vitriol from FReepers who have a small posting history. Then the later pages are filled with the reasonable FReepers who comment thoughtfully.

This happening over and over leads me to believe that the rainbow coalition monitors FR and notifies the rest of the mangy crew when an article like this is posted so they can pile on and possibly set the narrative. Get a hundred response thread and look at the first 20 or so. It happens all the time.

Hi ptl. Scoutmaster has been involved in these FR discussions from the beginning. He is a lawyer, deals with property, knows the west, and definitely knows the issues with Clive Bundy’s claim.

Scoutmaster is a fair, polite, and friendly debater.

My personal view is that Mr Bundy is no racist, and that he’s definitely being taken out of context. However, conservative media and conservative politicians have apparently decided it is too difficult to explain due to the powerful voice of the race industry when there’s a feeding frenzy.

In that regard, Bundy blew it, and I don’t believe the cyber conservatives who support him have a powerful enough voice to turn this around for him.

Therefore, it’s in the hands of God. Bundy needed Divine Intervention anyway just to win his case. Now he needs it for his case even to continue.

Pastor, unless I am wrong, God has a sense of humor in correcting the arrogant and oppressive through means and people who are flawed, common and unpolished.

This little wind is the first time Pharaoh has blinked in my lifetime. Cowboys, cowgirls and their friends were privileged to be the instrument.

The cloud on this wind is very small right now. The size of a man’s hand maybe. Personally though, I am happily confident there is more coming.
