Thats exactly what I said. I said Im wondering if theyre better off under government subsidy, and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail, and their older women and their children are standing, sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do, you know, Im wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were slaves, and they was able to have their family structure together, and the chickens and garden, and the people had something to do? And so, in my mind Im wondering, are they better off being slaves, in that sense, or better off being slaves to the United States government, in the sense of the subsidies. Im wondering. Thats what. And the statement was right. I am wondering.
“So hes wondering which form of slavery some people prefer?”
That’s how I see it. And apart from the hyper-sensitivity crowd, what he said should make even liberals pause. How much freedom have they given the downtrodden? And how many families have they rent asunder?
And how is living on the demorat plantation with food stamps, section 8 housing, WIC, SNAP, EIC, Obamacare, Obamaphones, affirmative action, or any of the other 77 welfare programs different than slavery when the recipient has no freedom other than to vote for the Man to keep living on the plantation?
Yet Democrats calling Justice Thomas and black Republicans “race Traitors” “uncle Toms” and “house negroes” is not racist?
The press, and the world, are upside down.
Just weird.
Perhaps there was a “better” way to ask the question, but even that would garner a press freakout.
Heck, look at how the press wets themselves over the 2nd Amendment.
Waiting for the Robert Byrd crowd to chime in. Maybe he was just ‘trying to get elected’, so that makes it ok.
I think Bundy is an honest man, who isn’t a great wordsmith. Why not have a discussion about why blacks continue to be over-represented in all the wrong categories?
Oh yeah - we’re not allowed to have honest discussions about race in this country.
I don't know, by reading some of the comments on other sites (some even by so-called Republicans), it appears that there are now a significant number that would have no problem with government shooting him in the head and taking his land solely for making the comments. I guess free speech is only allowed when its politically correct...
Dear Democrats. Please provide numbers and an explanation for the following:
1) The number of black abortions each year
2) The number of black men sitting in prision
3) The number of black children being raised without a father
4) The percentage of black men that are unemployed
And how many years are we into Obama’s presidency?
But hey, Let’s Move!
He is talking about government’s failures, not the entire black race. Many blacks have also come out against government dependency.
The problem, PoloSec, is that the general public doesn’t hear “context”. They hear and see words. Due to the nature of Mr. Bundy’s case, he has a civic obligation to carry himself-when speaking to the public- in a dignified manner. Mr. Bundy must assume that from here on out, he’ll be quoted and filmed for public consumption. That’s the nature of the beast.
As a result of what happened with the Feds, Mr. Bundy created a national spectacle. Don’t misunderstand me. What unfolded at the ranch had to be made public because the BLM as well as the Feds were overreaching in their authority against American citizens.
Mr. Bundy chose to capitalize on the violation of his Constitutional rights and take this to the public. As a result, he has become a spokesman of sorts and public figure. Therefore he should conduct himself in such a way that is becoming to all ranchers and to those citizens who are keeping a close eye on these developments.
Oh, they have an explanation - white racism is the cause of all those problems.
Agreed, and I do believe that was Mr. Bundy's argument.
Good for him for not backing away from what he said. Meanwhile the POS & spineless GOP is running around in circles.
Darksheare, the problem isn’t the press. The problem isn’t the double-standards. The problem is that you want to persuade and inform the general public. Also, Mr. Bundy, whether he likes it or not, is a spokesman of sorts for ranchers.
I can assure you that if I ask my rancher friends and family about this situation, they will not be pleased.
And he appears to have studied the Sarah Palin playbook on how to deal with the left. Though she would have never said this.
So, now we have somebody with a set of brass ones, the Sarah Palin playbook and a statement that is completely and totally verboten in the PC world.
there is no such thing as “context” any more. Anyone involved in the public sphere had better realize that.
the old argument about being taken out of context, or only a partial quote, or not the whole statment just is completely useless these days. It’s soundbites and what is the smallest cut and paste that doesn’t actually *change* the words or image, and that is what one is going to be held to and stuck with- left or right. It’s the 21st century and no one other than a partisan who has already made up their mind is going to read an entire paragraph to get the context.
Welfare historically enslaves those who become dependent upon it for their livelihood.
How do the numbers, in your 1 - 4, compare to other races?
How have generational entitlements helped blacks, or any race, to become truly self sufficient?
Questions/topics the libs don’t like to discuss...factually.
But who “informs” the general public?
The press.
I honestly don’t get the jump so many made to defend Bunker. He is the wrong symbol for a move against Federal overreach. I know the BLM was full of hoola and don’t buy the desert tortoise argument at all. But Bundy was grazing on Federal land without paying the fees that other ranchers paid. From what I read he had plenty of warning that he needed to move those cattle off the land.
The show of police power was overkill and played right into Bundy’s hand and those who took up his cause. That does not change the fact that the man is looking more and more like an ass. This statement is so stupid it beggars belief.
