After Bundy's overtly racist remarks, let's see how far politicians run away from him.
The New York Times has overheard Cliven Bundythe Nevada rancher who, instead of paying decades of overdue grazing fees, met the Bureau of Land management with guns and a small militiasaying this:
"I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro," he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, "and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch they didn't have nothing to do. They didn't have nothing for their kids to do. They didn't have nothing for their young girls to do.
"And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?" he asked. "They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I've often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn't get no more freedom. They got less freedom."
Expect every politician to back away from the issue.
"His remarks on race are offensive and I wholeheartedly disagree with him," Sen. Rand Paul said in a statement Thursday morning.

I read that. Ugh. I wonder if there is more to it, or if Bundy will claim he did not make those statements.
Sometimes it is important to be focussed on ONE issue and to keep your mouth shut on others.
Response coming from Harry Reid in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
The left confuses message and messenger a lot
"I disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it." What a joke.
Run & hide everyone. The leftist media win after all.
I wouldn’t word it that way, but I’ve basically articulated the same point. He’s basically saying that as bad as slavery was, are they better off now in the projects than they were on the plantation?
This is not an endorsement of the plantation. Rather, it is a condemnation of the welfare state.
Like Harry Reid said...
“Something will happen...”
“...The New York Times has overheard Cliven Bundy...”
Really? How?
Smear machine cranks up.
There are better ways to make the point.
Has there been confirmation from any other source that Bundy actually made these remarks?
But still, guys like Sharpton say things that are ten times more outrageous than what Bundy said, and they get a pass.
I’ve never been a fan of this guy... but I’m far more opposed to the tactics used by the imperial federal government.
He needs to stay on subject matter that he’s familiar with... ranching.
Actually it sounds like what Bundy said if he even said it is factually correct. Just politically incorrect. I don’t read that as racist.
I think what Mr. Bundy meant was that picking cotton is preferable to sitting around not working and living off the govt handout.
REVERUNT Al is a man of the cloth!.....
On the other hand, if he did make those comments, does that mean he doesn’t deserve justice for his ranch?
That means any time someone has a legal problem with the federal gov’t, liberasl can dig up some “racist” or “homophobic” dirt on them and they lose all rights?
“The New York Times has overheard Cliven Bundy”
Really?
There are better ways to make the point.
I confess that it would be interesting if his comments have the opposite effect of what everybody is expecting. I compare him to the kid who said the emperor has no clothes.
Let’s see how this plays out. The debate will be interesting.
I agree. Being a slave is horrible. Living in a project where one is thoroughly dependent on government and subject to high crime is not much better. It’s trading one form of slavery for another. Comparing the two doesn’t mean I think either one is good.
I guess, if he really said it, he could have left out the bit about picking cotton, but otherwise, he’s spot on. Today, Black’s are only “disadvantaged” by their own life’s choices. They need to emulate Dr. Ben Carson, not the crooked Blacks that run for political office so they can steal from the rest of us.
Cliven Bundy said that about Negroes when he met with the BLM did he? That’s an odd topic of discussion if they were there to remove his cattle. Was it recorded by anyone because I haven’t seen or heard anything about this online but it sure would be a way to kill his reputation with the minorites if it were true. Let’s say it’s not the truth and is just a fabrication put out by the MSM or a liberal news source to damage his reputation. Now how would it look. But let’s say its true. Did he lie about what he saw? If not then it’s just an observation and inflammatory to those who are sensitive to the truth. Basically it amounts to committing a criminal action in the public PC court which is controlled by the MSM.
