Was he supposed to come back in “X” number of years, “X” set by humanity? Not even the Son knows the day and the hour.
A lot of folks are criticizing the Christ via strawman arguments.
Some oddball Christianesque followings harp a lot on the paucity of recorded direct claims on Jesus’ part and hold Him as less than divine. Jesus himself said “Believe the miracles.” Jesus did the things that would be logical to expect only out of God. God doesn’t huff hot air about Himself. God does things.
Okay. So the prophecy says there will be a New Jerusalem on Earth, and then that will be wiped away and it’ll just be the one in Heaven, right? This is what is going to happen?
At the very end, yes. Once the mortal coil has completed its purpose. Then, if you are a believer, A_perfect_lady really WILL become a perfect lady.
The Bible may say that, but there is no independent confirmation. The only thing that historical records other than the Bible can suggest is that he lived, spoke, had followers, and died.
But what is the most plausible explanation for the empty tomb?
Well, the Bible does claim that he said there were some in that crowd who would not taste death before the kingdom of God arrives in its glory. So either there are some 2,000 old disciples quietly tottering around Israel today, or...
The most plausible explanation is that it is a made-up story, like the apple of discord in Greek mythology.
Okay, at the end, you said. So this hasn’t happened yet. None of this has happened yet. The prophecy has not been fulfilled at all. Because it hasn’t happened yet.
We’ know when it's going to happen when the abomination stands on the mercy seat of the Ark. From then onward all things are on a time table.
Until it happens we just watch for prophesied events.
Revelation 3:
[3] Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
The penalty for not watching is rather severe!
.
In post 126 you said there would be a new earthly kingdom for 1000 years. Is this Israel or not?
>> “Well, the Bible does claim that he said there were some in that crowd who would not taste death before the kingdom of God arrives in its glory” <<
.
The kingdom did come in its glory, at the transfiguration, and on the temple mount at pentecost, after his resurrection.
Read the Acts.
I said that there would be an earthly kingdom, but it won’t be new, it will be centered at Jerusalem, where it is today.
So are you saying the earthly kingdom is already here?
The place where the Earthly government of Yehova will reside is already here. But there will be a new temple there.
Elements of the kingdom are here, spiritually, such as healings for example.
1. Peter and Paul converting Jews and starting churches was the first one. That was the one that was supposed to be ruled over by Jesus, but Jesus doesn't appear at all, he was already gone.
2. The next one will be in Israel when the Temple on the Mount is rebuilt and that will last 1000 years.
3. The last one is in Heaven after the Earth is gone. Do I understand correctly?
Well, all He had to do was to command that to be done and it would have been done. Of course, that takes our Salvation away from the equation, doesn't it?
The power of the apostles was a part of the beginning of the kingdom on Earth, but it cannot complete until Yeshua returns and the two sticks of Israel are joined. (Ezekiel 37)
So the prophecy has not yet been fulfilled.
Thanks Ray!
