STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- After receiving her new health coverage in January through the New York State of Health Marketplace, Arden Heights resident Margaret Figueroa, 49, who suffers from two chronic illnesses, went to her pharmacy to fill her prescriptions. Although her insurance company, EmblemHealth, assured her she was covered, her insurance card was denied.
While she had signed up for new health coverage -- because her insurance carrier dropped her old plan -- the company's internal paperwork apparently wasn't filed.
She also learned that all her long-time doctors didn't accept the new insurance plan.
For Ms. Figueroa, who suffers from a rare neurological disease called Arnold Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia, this has led to three months of excruciating pain, withdrawal symptoms and immobility.
"It's hard," said Ms. Figueroa, through her tears Wednesday at a press conference at Rep. Michael Grimm's (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) New Dorp office.
"I have been in pain. I've been vomiting. I lost 22 pounds. The pain is unbearable. My medication helps me function during the day," added Ms. Figueroa, who has undergone four brain surgeries for her conditions, which require her to take numerous amounts of medication.

All the BS the Democrogues yap about Republicans wanting to kill old people... well the pieces of Demo-craps are doing exactly that with their idiotic fantasies of utopia.
Ever Obama voter now knows what to expect for the rest of their life sweet dreams.
I hate to say it, but a lot of her problems have nothing to do with Obamacare and more to do with the War on Drugs.
I had massive spinal surgery and am on pain meds. My regular doctor dropped all of her chronic pain patients because of a law crackdown in the state of Texas. (It wasn’t just me)
We searched for more than a month to find me a new PCM who would accept me because PCMs won’t accept chronic pain patients.
Why? Because they’re on the line the moment that they do. Pain drs do better because they treat their patients like criminals to satisfy the state from day one. (”Pee in this cup and pray that your levels are perfect. If they’re too high, you’re taking drugs you weren’t prescribed. If they’re too low, you’re a pusher who’d selling what’s prescribed for money and you’re going to prison...”)
My pain dr bragged that he treated 80 year old widows with obvious arthritis and spinal problems like criminals.
So good luck to her, but it’s not Obamacare that cut her off. It’s the WOD.
Agh. Ack. Should read
"She also learned that none of her long-time doctors accept the new insurance plan"
Can we get EnglishCare, please?
The back end of Obamacare still hasn’t been built.
What good is being insured if the doctor wonn’t see you?
Democrats have a massive political problem on their hands that goes well beyond website glitches and insurance signups.
People still can’t get medical care regardless of what kind of policy they have.
Bottom line is Obamacare is not delivering what the President and the Democrats promised it would. For that, they will pay the price in November.
Obamacare: “If you like your policy, you can keep it.”
Tip of the iceberg...
Reid says the stories are bogus, so it must be true!
“Obamacare: If you like your policy, you can keep it.
How about, “if you like your life, you can keep it”? ‘Betcha that’s what’s coming next.

she ought to be at Chuck Schumer’s office, surely he’d appreciate the photo op
I know somebody personally with a very similar brain condition. Said person also bought coverage that is costing over $400/month and was DENIED the needed brain surgery. The doctors are livid.
We have private insurance, always have had. Hubby is retired but keeps his insurance through his old employer. We pay over $600 a month just for his insurance. Everything his doc puts in for is denied by the insurance. Doc has a standard letter that he sends to insurance companies. He just fills in the appropriate blanks and requires a signature back from a manager, not a peon. Essentially it says........you acknowledge that the treatment requested for Mr/Mrs___________ has personally been denied by you. When Mr. ________ sues you for bodily harm/hardship/death because of the denied treatment I will go to court and testify for him.
Please acknowledge with your signature_____________
He gives them 2 chances and then he sends the letter addressed to the Head of the company or sivision or aomething He said once they get the letter he has never got one back and they approve the procedure. Lol
She better shut up or she’ll be audited by the IRS.
That’s great! Love it! Very clever doctor. I will pass this on to my friend. Maybe the neurologist can use it.
Even with the IRS’ greatly-reduced staff?
Sure . . . let’s see how well he and other Dems “run on Obamacare” in the face of more stories like this.
