Seen several tweets of this over the last hour, and now this vid of the defection is posted on YouTube.
The column had apparently been surrounded by several hundred pro-Russian civilians inside of Kramatorsk, with several older women linked arm-in-arm to prevent it's passing
At about 8:50, you can see the commander arguing with someone on the phone..
World Nut Daily is a hoax.
Your definition of "Russian" is of purely politic nature. That's not right, the definition needs to be ethnic.
Russians who support Putin are just lowbrow commie soviets. They’re reinforcing stereotypes about their heritage as being unable to think for themselves and needign a cruel master to lead them.
Were you there?
I think you’ve been reading too much western media.
Yes, comrade. Me reads western not soviet media.
~Theres no question these are soldiers fully armed and dressed as Russian regulars replete with masks and some with Ukraine insignia. Any insistance theyre grandpas or irregulars is a fool .Particularly tooling around in APCs. I hope your sources are reliable and this is not some wishfull thinking on the part of some commander back in Kiev who hasnt a clue as to what is going on. The Ukraine command structure is something left to be desired.
Personally I think its a Russian specialized unit.~
Their uniforms and rifles aren’t Russian and vehicles are paratroopers’ BMDs which are looking and painted in a Ukrainian manner.
Whats your point? That Russia is free and democratic country that allows citizens to express their disagreement with government? If so, than OK.
Ok, let's look at the situation. The current Kiev authorities revoked a law which gave the Russian language regional status, they announced that the Victory Day wouldn't have been celebrated in Ukraine any more. They are likely to join the NATO, an organisation which goal is to put all the Russians to painful death?
And, after all, why adding a province populated by Russians to Russia may not cause some cheer in Russia?
First, don’t call me comrade, I’m a former Canadian soldier.
Second, I don’t think you’re interested in facts.
Have a good day.
Bye, comrade.
Well, I think we may find some Ukrainians among the Soviet high ranking officials at the time. Since Russians were starved as well as Ukrainians, Kazakhs and so on, why not blaming Ukrainins for starving Russians?
Your evaluation is up to you, but they still remain Russians.

Not quite. Nations change. Americans, for example, were once British. The Soviet man is indeed a new phenomenon that has little to do with Russianness as we know it through the centuries. The present population of the Russian Federation, while retained some ethnic Russian roots has acquired a different, ugly mentality on display today.
I don’t know for how long the “expression of disagreements” will remain in RF, but the point is that some Russians have a conscience left.
Russians Soviets aren’t Russians. Soviets were of many ethnicities, including Ukrainians. The USSR had no superior or inferior ethnicities. Therefore blaming one for butchering another is a manipulation of history. The broke apart not far ago, a period of border changes is necessary, until the situation finally settles.
Whay can’t ‘Russianness’ change through centuries also? I think you have never come across the idea of “Russia as the 3rd Rome” or the Byzantine Christian Empire which were in effect in the Tsarist Russia.
Well, I meant that Russian Soviets are not all the Russians
