Reid and Pelosi have so many Chinese investments that they are bought and sold for. There is no way they are looking out for America's interest.
And converting debt to equity is a form of liquidation. We need to raise the import tariffs, bring the industries back to the U.S., put Ameicans back to work. Our trade deficits will dissappear, and China will be spending down their debt buying food to feed their people, instead of challenging us militarily.

You have uncovered the crux of the problem. That was then, but now the motivation is different.
As the Fed and Congress continue to debauch the dollar and as we continue to devalue it slowly, China wants to exchange its dollar deposits for real things. They've been buying vast amounts of gold for the past decade, most of it from us as we sell it to keep the price down and make the dollar look good. But now China wants land -- farmland, resource land and ports. That's the price they demand for their goodwill in funding our terminal profligacy. And what is happening in Nevada is the federal authority executing eminent domain over land that China wants. Harry Reid is profiting from it personally, but that's not what is driving this whole effort.
If we had honest people in Congress, Harry Reid would be dragged into the senate chamber and publicly removed then arrested.
He was and is willing to murder Americans for some Chinese gold.

So they say to our Beltway big-spending overlords, “We want collateral.” Now we know why the ‘sweetheart deal’—because it was trading as well as buying—but the Tong gang won’t get it’s ‘vigorish’ now.
I hope losing gamblers Barry, Harry, Nancy and Boner have reason to sweat. More likely, they take they’ve got by hook and crook over the years, the Chinese stop buying bonds, or worse, and we pick up the bill/clean up the mess.
