DEA raids woman`s Shorewood home after she shops at garden center

Posted: Apr 12, 2014 CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A woman in the southwest suburbs says she woke up to find armed DEA agents pointing guns at her -- all because she shopped at a hydroponic garden center.

Angela Kirkling was driven out of her bed in Shorewood at gunpoint. The DEA had started investigating her because she had made a purchase at a hydroponics shop.

Agents say they thought she was growing pot indoors. Police had also been digging through her garbage and tracking her electrical bill.

The first civil right ever violated under color of authority on this mission is deeper than whatever damage all the pot-heads ever did.

THEN they've used laws they justified on the basis of the WOD to violate the civil rights of thousands on issues unrelated to drugs and the victims had little to no recourse.

A free Constitutional society with pot-heads causing some grief is an infinitely better place to live than a state where police feel free to do whatever the hell they damn well please because "their cause is just" (but where the drug use is still rampant anyway). You sit there and try to tell me it was worth it???

Did the cops ID the neighbor?

You’d have cause for a civil suit, one would think.

You and I agree....I think we tried control with alcohol (Prohibition) and that turned out to be a disaster... with the creation of a huge black market ...people like Joe Kennedy, Al Capone, and every local moonshiner out there.

The War on Drugs is a failure, it’s that simple. Statistics show that kids who went through the school programs are just as likely to use drugs as those who didn’t.

That money spent could have helped the USA in the area of mental health that has been lacking.... instead of being a drain.

Ruining the youth for small possessions and making criminals out of those, who could have been productive citizens if not for the RAP sheet....all small time criminals age out of crime, only about 4-6% end up being institutionalized career criminals.

I do not use an drugs or MJ....I did however teach CJ at the community college level, and research proves our point.

Not sure about that, that the collateral is broader and deeper.

There is no question about it.

The War on Drugs is a failure, it’s that simple.

A failure by ANY metric one can think of...and I'm against the legalization of drugs.

Did the cops ID the neighbor?

Sure did...the neighbor is named (multiple times) on the warrant affidavit. Lawyers weren't interested because the informant doesn't have enough money to make a suit worth their time.

Lawyer jokes welcome any time. :-)

So she was a dope head. Cops were on to something.

Yep, but it doesn't make as interesting a thread as when they come up with nothing, so they gloss it over.

And depending on exactly what they told the cops, making a false report is actually a criminal offense.

So far in America you and I are entitled to our individual opinions, and I would fight for your right to have yours, that’s what freedom is.

Whatever you do, don’t buy a chicken cooker. They have tracking devises built into all the new ones.

Even better when they wonder ,”am I safe at home”?, THEN they will stop....

I grow tomatoes in the winter, but I don’t have a hydroponics set up. I just use a soiless potting mix, a south western (mostly western) patio door and a T5 full spectrum grow light that I ordered from a seed company.

During the short winter days, I turn on the grow light at dusk, and leave it on to simulate the length of summer days.

I think someone already posted a link to the garden thread. We have been discussing it. I usually only ping the list on Fridays, and during the week, stuff is just posted to the thread for any who wish to participate to see.
