Federal land managers say "escalating tensions" led them to release all 400 or so head of cattle rounded up on public land in southern Nevada from a rancher who has refused to recognize their authority.
"Based on information about conditions on the ground and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concerns about the safety of employees and members of the public," Kornze said in a statement.
Hundreds of states' rights protesters, including militia members, showed up at corrals outside Mesquite to demand the animals' return to rancher Cliven Bundy. Some protesters were armed with handguns and rifles at the corrals and at an earlier nearby rally.
Las Vegas Police Lt. Dan Zehnder said the showdown was resolved with no injuries and no violence. Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie was able to negotiate a resolution after talking with Bundy, he said.

“Doesnt anyone find it odd that this supposed Federal court action was not carried out by Federal Marshals. They are the courts enforcement arm. Not the BLM. Me thinks this was a bluff by BLM and not a Legal Order.”
I was wondering the same. LEO’s are always clearly identified as to which agency they work for. Can anyone spot identifying logos on the BLM Enforcers?

” I fully expect the Federals to be back at Mr. Bundys ranch on November 5 or very shortly there after. And back with a vengeance.”
The Bundys should be planning a “reunion” about that time.
Perhaps the instigators will be gone by November
Exactly true !
This isn't about cows ,.. its bigger than that. Its about personal freedoms ,heritage , and cronyism in Government.
This has the potential of becomming a 'range war', and a land grab under Federal authorization, which the Fed doesnt want prior to an election.
Another question not answered is : Why the land was assessed at $38.6 million, and sold at 15% of its value by local government ?
And what was Dingy Harry getting in return, and / or giving away ?
Something going into Harry's retirement fund ?
Marshals would be clearly marked and would have served Bundy before action began. Also likely would have had local Sheriffs officials with them at the time. Marshals don’t screw things up this way. Totally illegal action.
Huntin' ain't no fun when the rabbit's got a gun.
We need congressional hearings. What committee has authority over the BLM?
They'll stop loaning us money. Think about what happens then.

“I wonder how many of the Feds went to their superiors and told them that they would not harm the protesters or the US citizens there as it violated their oath to protect the Constitution? Or their conscience? “
Answer: Most likely, ZERO! The only thing the BLM forgot to bring was their MRAPs.
“The Federal courts are pretty consistent with their actions.”
And they are also “pretty consistent” with abusing the citizenry with Federal Law!
No arguments there. Just stating what was wrong with the picture thats being painted now.
If I understand this right the Secretary of the Interior has the authority to recruit local help in these types of cases:
Ҥ9260.0-3 Authority.
Under section 303(a) of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (43 U.S.C. 1733), the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to issue regulations with respect to the management, use, and protection of the public lands, including property located thereon, the violation of which is punishable as a criminal offense. Section 303(c) of the Act authorizes the Secretary to enter into contracts with appropriate local officials having law enforcement authority and to authorize Federal personnel to carry out the enforcement of Federal laws and regulations relating to the public lands and their resources. Section 303(d) of the Act authorizes the Secretary to enter into cooperative agreements with State and local regulatory and law enforcement officials for the enforcement of State laws and local ordinances on the public lands. In addition to general authority under FLPMA, other specific authorities are noted where applicable.”
The BLM operates under title 43 of the CFRs:
I wrote Reid’s only bio. The complexity of the corruption is absolutely stunning. So while Alex Jones had one thread on Rory and Chinese solar, that is only the tip of the iceberg of what is involved. Here’s just a little bit of what I know. http://www.futurnamics.com/reid_bundyranch.php
Yes you are correct as for a police action( as in stopping a crime in progress). This, according to BLM, is a court action requiring asset forfeiture and contracts. This court action would be a Marshal assignment which is the enforcement arm of the court. Not BLM.
In my opinion we need to get after congress to start an investigation of this matter. Who authorized it, why was it such a total mess, was it legal. At the very least someone needs to lose their job and the best outcome would be to have BLM funding cut in half until they figure out what their mission is. It is NOT government land, it belongs to the American citizens.
I agree. To me it was an Extralegal action such as that perpetrated by the IRS. This was strings being pulled and not the serving of a court order. This is why they retreated so quick. They knew they were on shakey ground.
“The affiliations and backgrounds of EACH mercenary should be investigated. Were any of them “on loan” from any branch of our armed services? Were they “on loan” from private security firms or police departments from around the state....or perhaps Homeland Security thugs from out of state? Who were their “commanders” on the Bundy site and what are their backgrounds?
I’ll bet such an investigation would unearth scads of unholy alliances....and most certainly illegal ones also.”
Excellent point, MinuteGal. Get going Congress. Do your job. The House should take the investigative lead.
Oversight committee?
Issa has his hands full right now (IRS, Benghazi, Fast & Furious):
The Natural Resources Committee oversees the Dept. of Interior:
