LAS VEGAS (AP) Images of a forced cattle roundup on a rural Nevada range sent ripples through the West on Friday, prompting elected officials in several states to weigh in, militia members to mobilize and federal land managers to reshape elements of the operation.
Bureau of Land Management officials dismantled designated protest areas Thursday and Nevadas governor urged calm as the fight over rancher Cliven Bundys cattle widened into a debate about states rights and federal land-use policy.
The dispute that triggered the roundup dates to 1993, when the BLM cited concern for the federally protected tortoise. The agency later revoked Bundys grazing rights.
Bundy claims ancestral rights to graze his cattle on lands his Mormon family settled in the 19th century. He stopped paying grazing fees and disregarded several court orders to remove his animals.

You might find this interesting, should not be surprising:

“To put it bluntly, the people are being hoodwinked into believing that the situation is being resolved. It is not. It is a strategic de-escalation to fool the public.”

“Regardless, according to this source, the government will take back their land as they must to fulfill international obligations.”
“It was never about grazing rights or anything other than (1) securing clear title to the land, and (2) further demonizing any patriotic resistance. It is my understanding, based on the information from this source, that it is a critical task to create a situation that will also advance their agenda of gun control and confiscation.”
That's not correct. Mr Bundy owns a homestead of 160 acres. The rest of the land is the property of the federal government and has been since the Mexican War. The BLM manages the land and that is the crux of the problem.
Mr. Bundy owns water rights and leases grazing rights on federal land that, by law, is open for use by ranchers. He has legal rights as a tenant. The BLM is doing exactly what Irish and Scottish landlords did in the 18th and 19th centuries, forcing tenants off the land so that they could use it for other, more profitable, purposes. The big difference is that the Scottish and Irish landlords were private land holders, in this case the land is owned by the federal government and is therefore held in trust for the public good. The BLM has redefined public good without due process for the benefit of people like Harry Reid.
Great Pic Dude! :-)
“This is a blue-purple state too.”
Good point. If that had been GA the shooting would have commenced. :-)
Who ordered the BLM to make the assault and steal the man’s cattle? Who was the decision maker? Was it the Dept. of Interior Secretary? Reid could request it happen, but could not give an order. Who was at the apex of this travesty?
I think there needs to be discovery regarding this, the man lost cattle no doubt, that is theft.
His Son's are deep;u involved.
I agree, but if I remember correctly the Feds have to give permission to have an individual bring an action against it. It is not just filing a cause of action. I would like to hear from a lawyer regarding this matter.
It’s all issued to fight and kill the American citizens if so ordered while illegals enter the country, unchecked.
Next step is to find out if these BLM agents are locals or volunteers from others states — the latter would have less compunction to pull the trigger.
Ted Cruz spoke in the last day or two and said the solution to America's ongoing problems of "too much government" was to cede RIGHTS back over to the individual States
Harry will probably claim that he doesn’t know them in order to not get involved in the affair.
