Malaysia flight's co-pilot tried to make cellphone call-report
Reuters 57 minutes ago
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Investigators probing the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 suspect that the co-pilot of the jetliner tried to make a call with his cellphone after the plane was diverted from its scheduled route, Malaysia's New Straits Times reported sources as saying on Saturday.
The newspaper cited unidentified investigative sources as saying the attempted call from co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid's phone was picked up by a cellphone tower as the plane was about 200 nautical miles northwest of the west coast state of Penang. That was around where military radar made its last sighting of the missing jet at 2:15 a.m. local time on March 8.
"The telco's (telecommunications company's) tower established the call that he was trying to make. On why the call was cut off, it was likely because the aircraft was fast moving away from the tower and had not come under the coverage of the next one," the New Straits Times cited a source as saying.

These wouldn't happen to be the same source that said the plane landed in Pakistan and the passengers are being held hostage, would it?
Sometimes the Pakistan theory is the most sensible
And because of all of the stacks of printouts that dozens of volunteers had to search through, this information is only becoming available now.
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
Wow, that is a neat picture.

Any idea what that is? Goggles and ear amplifiers?
200 miles out with cell coverage? Yeah, right.
People mock the Pakistan theory as though something has actually been found in the South Indian Ocean.
There’s been a mass decoupling of conventional wisdom from reality. Par for the course in our world anymore.
If the progressive loss of communication was the result of fire/malfunction/sabotage/meteorite/whatever (something other than deliberate crew intent to go radio-silent), it would make sense that the crew would try whatever portable radios they had, including cell phones.
If the wreck is found where the pings are now being slowly triangulated, the DFDR & CVR might be recovered, but may not shed much light on what initially happened, depending on whether those recorders lost power during the initial events or on impact.
Vintage German listening devices. I’m guessing the ear horns help you hear a distant threat and the goggles have cross hairs (or something) to target your eyes on the source of the sound.
Didn’t an article come out that Thailand had some sort of military exercise and the that plane was shot down with pics of the burned area?
Now I am not saying that is what happened but the claim is out there! Could be a conspiracy theory, but if it’s not...WOW!
Here is one of the articles:
If only I drank, this would be a great drinking game. Sure, IF there was a call the ONLY explaination of why it was cut off was due to the towers and not because of anything going on inside the plane. And no info on who he was trying to call. This over a month out. Whatever. I said from the get go they didn’t want this plane found.
Oh baloney.....
He was caught and probably paid with his life.
pretty soon the media will come out that pilot was barack obama’s step brother. he diverted the plan so far from lnd to prevent any lose of major significance.
I seem to remember ads at the end of magazines or comics that sold “listening devices” so you could eavesdrop on neighbors, kids huddling in the yard, etc. Of course no concern for invasions of privacy back then, and I’m sure they didn’t work anyway. Like anything else one bought from a medium like that.
I thought the goggle were those X Ray glasses you sent away for from the back of comic books.
Co-pilot went to the bathroom and was locked out by the pilot. Tried to make a cell call for help. Of course, he was not the only one on board with a cell phone. So why just him?
Maybe he didn’t want the rest of the passengers to know their real predicament?
Fishermen off the coast of Indonesia reported seeing a burning plane crash into the water, 24 hours after the plane left Kuala Lumpur.
A fire suppression bottle, the same kind used on Boeing passenger jets, was found along the coast of the Maldives.
Flying low? Burning object? Ground witnesses claim they saw Flight 370
Debris from missing flight MH370 washed up on a beach in the Maldives?
I don't know what happened to this plane. But it sure seems like we're being inundated with misinformation and contrived distractions. As far as I'm concerned, the least likely scenario is the one they're pursuing in the southern Indian Ocean. Whatever the truth is, I believe we're being led 180 degrees in the opposite direction.
