Armed with two knives, a 16-year-old student at Franklin Regional High School in Murraysville, Pennsylvania attacked his classmates this morning. Four students are in critical condition, while the suspect is in custody — after having been tackled by an assistant principal to end the attack:

Multiple people were stabbed at a high school in the suburbs east of Pittsburgh, officials said.
Emergency management spokesman Dan Stevens said four students were believed to be seriously injured when a student with a knife stabbed or slashed others, injuring as many as 20.
Stevens said not all of the 20 injured were cut by the knife, though most were. Some suffered scrapes and cuts in the mayhem that ensued at Franklin Regional High School on Wednesday morning. Stevens says it doesn’t appear any students suffered life-threatening injuries.
While Stevens said all the injured are between 14 and 17 years old, hospital officials told CBS Pittsburgh the patients they were taking in from the incident range from 15 to 60 years old.
The FBI also responded to the scene, but are emphasizing that they are in a support role only. This will be a local investigation.
The number of potential victims might have been higher, but a quick-thinking student hit the fire alarm. Another saved one of the severely-wounded victims by staying with her and keeping pressure on the injury to keep her from bleeding out:

Alyssa Finch, who said she is a student at Franklin Regional High School, told ABC News a fellow student pulled the fire alarm during the stabbing “because he knew what was happening … and he wanted the people to get out.”

I carry a strong yet inexpensive 5 foot wooden walking stick with a metal point at one end almost everywhere in lieu of a cane. People forget that a quarterstaff beats a fists, a knife, sword or even firearm in many cases. Watch the Steven Seagal movie with the hillbillies or the Clint Eastwood one with the gold prospectors for examples.
check your local state laws....some do ban the possession of knives with certain characteristics.
In my Tennessee high school he would have been jumped by a dozen other knife-wielding boys because when I was young almost every boy had a knife on him at all times, even at school.
That’s an automatic suspension and trip to jail now. We kept rifles and shotguns in our lockers.

Is that 'code' for the knifer was a white kid?
Just heard police chief say the two knives were 8-10 inches long. That is why the wounds are so deep in those attacked.
I don’t remember anyone having a rifle or shotgun in their locker (we had those stacked lockers that wouldn’t hold a typical longarm anyway), but the parking lot was littered with gun racks holding a variety of weapons. No one thought a thing about it. That was the norm. It was common to hunt right before or after school. Every high school student took a semester of hunter safety, too.
If the FBI is there it’s likely he’s a white kid. We’ll know for sure if NBC and the New York Times pick up the story.
We have to knife control. Get the anti-knife crowd out in force. Demonstrations to follow. Congressional action needed. Where in h*** is the Supreme Court?

I have a metal cane with a dragon head on the top. Twist the dragon and pull out a fairly short sabre. If the length of the metal cane doesn’t keep someone away, twist the dragon head.
Another issue is children now have it drilled into them that fighting is always bad, they are not allowed to even defend themselves so not only is everyone unarmed, they are also taught to wait for someone to help them if something happens. Rarely will anyone even try to stop a shooter or this kid with a knife.
I am surprised a few of them didn't get together, and rock his world, with a broom handle, a mop ringer or a chair? Who knows? Maybe they thought he had a gun.
They’ve been trained for 15 or so years to be sheep, so why would they become watchdogs at the flick of a switch? I miss the country I was born in.
