(Newser) Has Pyongyang started incinerating enemies of the state? At least 11 high-ranking officials in North Korea have been imprisoned or executed as part of another round of purges following the execution of Kim Jong Un's uncle, including a security chief who was burned alive with a flamethrower, according to an unconfirmed report in the South Korean press. A third purge of supporters of Jang Song Thaek will follow this second one, a source tells Chosun Ilbo. The source claims the security chief was singled out for the horrific method of execution because he had turned the country's Ministry of Public Security into Jang's private protection squad.
If true, the widely circulated story is chilling, but if not, it will be the third time in three months that an outlandish and ultimately false story from North Korea has caught the attention of the world's media, notes the Washington Post. Earlier reports claimed that Kim had fed his uncle to 120 starving dogsand that all men in the country had been required to adopt the leader's haircut. The flamethrower story, however, may be more plausible: It came from a well-known source who has been closely following the country's political purges.

In the USA they don’t burn political enemies alive. They just destroy your life, your career and your reputation.

Research into Stalin’s purges revealed that he’d set quotas. “Arrest and execute 20,000 from Stalingrad.” They kept statistics. I’d have though terror would rapidly lead to loss of power. But, apparently terror works.

Ivan the terrible had a ten foot diameter frying pan. The condemned were trussed up naked and swabbed with oil. I imagine it took a while to die.

Since the Dims ignore the Constitution anyhow, perhaps we can import the Nork judicial system to handle our arrogant Socialist traitors...
The idea of progressive Crispy Critters would be amusing. We could re-brand it as Koresh's Revenge.
After 40 years of Liberal hatred, alternate means of political combat might be considered.

Oh Marxism creates just the most delightful regimes doesn't it! I feel so warm and fuzzy inside when liberals tell me Marxists are perfectly fine to serve in US politics.

"...the widely circulated story is chilling..." Surely the writer didn't mean to use that word... unless it's a subtle dig at something he really thinks didn't happen

Most people will sell out. Until the hour of testing, know one is a sure bet. No one. And if you are willing to offer yourself up to certain death, and torture if captured, what about your kids, your spouse or your parents?

It does work and that's why it's nearly impossible to get these heroes of the left out of commission without military intervention because fear is what keeps them in power and they know it, and fear is impossible to destroy on a mass scale. I mean just think - if everybody in North Korea refused to listen to this twerp, his power would end in a nano-second. But that would never happen because of fear. Either way, it's ultimate example of what happens when a government is allowed to run amok which the left considers Utopia.
Some of the millionaire Utopia adherents...
