MILWAUKEE (AP) — A virus never before seen in the U.S. has killed millions of baby pigs in less than a year, and with little known about how it spreads or how to stop it, it's threatening pork production and pushing up prices by 10 percent or more.

Bacon prices (like chicken wing prices) have been out of control for some time now. If something is popular, it seems the price nearly doubles in a matter of a few years. Go figure.

My bacon woes started about 5 years ago when my local butcher got his ticket punched, damn Lou Gehrigs disease got him. Best bacon I ever had, sliced right from the slab however thick you wanted it.
