A date and cabin locations have finally been chosen.
This years shoot will be October 18th. Once again it will be held in Seagoville, (5 miles south of Route 175 or 3.5 miles NE of I-45 (exit 270) on S. Belt Line Road). The plan at this time is to meet at Cotton Gin in Crandle for breakfast at 9:00 a.m., BUT they are currently closed due to a fire. Hopefully they will be reopened by October. If not, Plan B will be put in place. After breakfast we will all head to the range. A delicious lunch will be provided at the range by our wonderful FRiend cpdiii.
The cabins where we are staying are Miller Creek Ranch in Canton, TX. There is a map of the place Here
A block of cabins have been reserved under the name TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. To reserve your cabin, call 866-488-6020 or 903-567-6020 They are reserved for Thursday the 16th through Sunday the 19th. Please let them know if you will arrive Thursday or Friday night. A $125.00 deposit is due at the time you make your reservation, with the balance due when you check in.
The cut off date for making your reservation is May 28th! Make reservations after that date at the risk of not getting a cabin.
The cabin numbers reserved for us are 10, 22, 24, 25, 77, 88, 89, 90, 92 and 102. #s 22, 24, and 25 are called Executive Cabins with lofts, they are $185.00/night and sleep 4-6 people; #s 10, 88, 89, 90 and 102 are Standard Cabins with lofts, they are $165.00/night and sleep up to 4 people; # 92 is a Standard Cabin without a loft and # 77 is handicapped accessible, those are both $150.00/night and sleep up to four. All the lofts, with the exception of #22, are only three feet high and each have two twin mattresses; the loft in #22 is five feet tall. Each cabin has a queen size bed and a queen size sleeper sofa.
No cars are allowed at the cabins, with the exception of the handicapped cabin. You can either use their concierge service to get to and from the cabins or rent a golf cart for $40.00/day. If you want to rent a golf cart it was suggested that you reserve one when making your reservation.
Extra cost included are a $5.00 resort fee (they normally charge this per day, but are only charging us a one time fee); Internet fee is $5.00/day.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in October!
I forgot all about them but found them in the garage a few months ago.
It is raining pretty good here right now with rain predicted for most of the week.
Hopefully that all clears out for next week so that the range is not muddy.
It would be wise to bring a pair of knock about shoes, just in case it is muddy on the day of the shoot.
My green crocs!! :)
Well Hopefully everything will be lovely and nice, but we have been getting some rain.
When it does rain, the river bottom always gets wet.
Do you have a really big tarp?
Some where.
I’ll never forget the year El Gato got buried. LOL
I don’t think any of us will! LOL!
Im starting to get excited ~ the time for the shoot is almost here! We have already started staging stuff by the front door.
For the people that are staying at the cabins the facility does not allow cars to be parked next to your cabin, so several of us have rented golf carts to be able to move our stuff and selves around. If you will need a lift send me a PM and Ill give you my phone number (let me know your # also, cause I dont answer the phone if I dont recognize the number).
If you are arriving Thursday night, we are having dinner at 7:00 at The Ole West Bean & Burger

Friday is a do your own thing day. Im sure some plans will be made Thursday night on things to do. Dinner will be in the cabin 52 area. Plans for that will definitely be made Thursday night.
Everyone will meet for breakfast Saturday morning, at 9:00, at Dennys.

Lunch at the range to be provided by cpdiii (Thanks Charlie!)
Saturday dinner will be snack food - Nachos, BBQ shrimp, stuffed chiles, bring to share...etc.
If you are not staying at the cabins, you are more than welcome to join us Friday and Saturday night for dinner, great company and excellent margaritas. The gatherings will all take place in the cabin 52 area.
The range is very primitive. For the ladies this means no bathroom! (We can make field trips into town to ease our bladders.) I suggest that you bring lawn chairs and a canopy, if you have one. mylife reported above that the range might be muddy, so bring an extra pair of shoes/boots.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones! And will miss those that are not able to make it this year.
So.. eleven days.
That’s good, I shouldn’t be showing any symptoms by then.
Gotta run, it’s volunteer day at the Liberian immigrant soup kitchen.
Mom, I’ll bring some rope just in case.
Someone else will have to show up to corner the market on hazmat suits, duct tape, bleach, and spray dispensers.
There are many improvements to the range now.
Lots of picnic tables and BBQs, even a playground for kids.
YIKES!! You have the ebola?
You will also need a tarp to wrap the body in.
But no bathrooms? That is primitive for us ladies. ;-)
Thank You ... Going after the tarp market too.
Going after the diaper market too ... WOW ... This is going to be a lucrative trip.
