DOJ requesting $2 million for Gun Safety Technology grants
Attorney General Eric Holder said on Friday that gun tracking bracelets are something the Justice Department (DOJ) wants to explore as part of its gun control efforts.
When discussing gun violence prevention programs within the DOJ, Holder told a House appropriations subcommittee that his agency is looking into technological innovations.
I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe, he said.
By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon.
Its those kinds of things that I think we want to try to explore so that we can make sure that people have the ability to enjoy their Second Amendment rights, but at the same time decreasing the misuse of weapons that lead to the kinds of things that we see on a daily basis, Holder said.
The Justice Department has requested $382.1 million in increased spending for its fiscal year 2014 budget for gun safety.
Included in the proposal is $2 million for Gun Safety Technology grants, which would award prizes for technologies that are proven to be reliable and effective.
President Barack Obamas budget proposal also calls for $1.1 billion to protect Americans from gun violenceincluding $182 million to support the presidents Now is the Time gun safety initiative.
A recent innovation allows a gun owner to only unlock a safe with a fingerprint scan and an RFID-equipped bracelet.
Others have suggested manufacturing GPS tracking and RFID chips into every gun. RFID chips transmit location data and are used by law enforcement agencies to send automatic alerts if a weapon moves away from the tracker, indicating that the gun is lost or stolen.
Did you ever notice the sticker on many electronic devices that states:
“(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Number (2) is the troubling one. This is the end-game to the merging of tech with firearms. With the flip of a switch, all firearms are rendered useless.
After 5 years standard (mandatory) issue for the FBI, I’ll look at it.
“382.1 million in increased spending for gun safety.”
I am sure we could get a group from FR to do it for half that cost. And we would make a whole lot of cash. 191.05 million could go a long way.
I’ll bring the tar, you bring the feathers.
You got me!
Those knuckle head Congs in this House Appropriations Subcommittee better see this for what it is and give this DOJ Imbecile nada $$.
And believe me, it frustrates the s--t out of leftists. You may not see it, but deep inside they are seething with frustration and rage.
Look Eric, all you’ve got to do is legislate universal RFID implantation in everyone. Then you can do tracking, and you can key firearms or computers or ATMs to the person’s ID. It’s a universal and compact solution.
Major Mark of the Beast stuff.

I’d like to “explore” how to place these anti-2nd Amendment losers into prison.
Yo, Eric the Red, would these trackers be affixed to your next shipment to the Mexican drug lords?
Why not just tattoo everyones’ forehead who owns guns...
This garbage is being pushed by the people making this unwanted and bad product. Since nobody will actually buy the bad product, they are paying the politicians to force the product.
This is like the red camera companies. They gave the product for free for studies and now they are the law.
Better yet; try my "Tyrant Tracking Tie":
Here's how to make one.
Their real intentions become clear and the stakes have never been higher. The November off-year elections are the most important in American history.
Make sure the bracelets are available in all of the various gang colors, as I am sure the gangbangers will be lining up for this initiative.
Yeah, all we want is Holder wearing an ankle bracelet.
My, but that’s a big Obama you got there.
Had Enough Yet ?
And I am assuming it will be a felony to disable this junk. And I assume every cop in the nation will have a firearm “kill” switch to disable all firearms withing a given distance. And I’m sure Obama’s secret service agents will have these. And I’m sure everyone who wears the bracelet will be instantly shaken down by beat cops.
