In the online-only "Overtime" portion of his HBO show Real Time, host Bill Maher weighed in on the Mozilla controversy, and did not react in a way that you would think. Maher seemed to disagree with gay rights activists for targeting Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich because of a 2008 donation to support a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California.
"Well, and he gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage. So, I don't think it's very fair," guest panelist Carrie Sheffield said.
"Good point," Maher responded.
"I think there is a gay mafia," Maher said. "I think if you cross them, you do get whacked."
Transcript below.
MAHER: What do you think about the Mozilla CEO having to step down over his donation to a pro-Proposition 8 group.
The Mozilla -- which I'm wearing right now, by the way. I didn't know what Mozilla was. I saw it on my computer, but -- it's Firefix, right? It's the browser.
So this guy apparently does not want gay people to get married and he had to step down. What do you think of that, the question asks.
FMR. REP. TOM DAVIS (R-VA): Because he gave $1,000 eight years ago and it's come back to haunt him.
CARRIE SHEFFIELD, FORBES: Well, and he gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage. So, I don't think it's very fair.

Yes, but he approves.
The homosexuals are some mean, evil and wicked people. What a miserable lifestyle for someone to choose to live.
guess they feel if they have to bend over and take it, that everyone else should, too.
Why do you think they carjacked the word, “gay”?
The homosexuals are some mean, evil and wicked people. What a miserable lifestyle for someone to choose to live.
They know they are morally out of the norm. They demand that others to join their misery to help them feel more normal. It doesn’t work because they will still end up feeling morally out of order.
That really is the key point. They choose this. All the nonsense that it is inherent as an excuse has failed to be proven in study after study. There is no biological proclivity to the behavior. It’s all mental. As such I find the concept of it being used to grant specific protections lunacy.
Now perhaps you can make a case that it is a mental illness, but then it comes to finding a cure. Today, however, society seems to think we should accept mental illness as normal just to be nice (clearly and blatantly shown in the case of the transgendered).
They are major bullies! I was in a discussion with a friend on Facebook and one of her Lefty friends was decrying Phil Robertson’s opinion on gays. I said I was far more interested in preserving free speech than worrying about someone being bullied into toeing the Leftists line. She didn’t make another comment on the thread. Leftists are bullies that are supported by Big Media. That is why they have so much power.
I guess in their homo world, the homos think heterosexuals are the abnormal ones! I still believe that it’s a learned not genetic behavior...I can’t imagine any mother looking down at her newborn and saying/thinking: “I hope you grow up to be homosexual or lesbian!”
As for their ‘jacking words...they used to be called light on their feet, queer, weird...now “gay” is used in order to deceive, lie, distort the truth.
God rules, so one day they will meet Him and have to confront their sins...
“The homosexuals are some mean, evil and wicked people.”
I’ve met homosexuals who are generally nice, but I agree that some homosexuals are mean. That probably applies to all sorts of people, not just homosexuals. As for evil and wicked, so am I and everyone else. My sins were different, but I’m hardly worthy of heaven in my own right. That’s why anyone who wants to be good in God’s eyes has to rely on Christ’s own goodness by repenting and asking Him to intercede on our behalf.
In my opinion, homosexuals have a terrible temptation and deserve our mercy so long as they aren’t harming us by doing things like getting people fired for believing in real marriage or attempting to subvert/pervert our children. That’s doesn’t mean we should be silent in the face of their sin, but I do think we should be sympathetic to their plight.
BTW, I agree there’s a gay mafia of sorts, and we should resist them just like we should resist any group that attempts to harm the civil society and our right to live and believe what we want in peace. However, I think I understand why a gay mafia is inevitable.
They see it like the next, great civil rights battle. As a society, we don’t tolerate people who say anything bad about blacks. We even set certain words, like the “N” word, off limits, and we task government to exterminate discrimination while discriminating in favor of blacks (strange, eh?). Nevertheless, if one thinks homosexuals are like blacks—another oppressed minority—one will inevitably wage war on the “bigots and haters” who keep homosexuals down.
I don’t agree with the comparison of course, but this is also why homosexuals generally try to claim they are born that way. If it’s a choice, then they cannot possibly claim they are like blacks.
Almost every drama and comedy program on television has had the seeming obligatory lesbian kiss. Many have even had the gay kiss.
Some of the ‘regular’ cable programs are almost pornographic with their same-sex/opposite-sex interactions.

shirely Q Liquor has the history of the homosexical “movement” down pat
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creatorwho is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know Gods righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
God’s word is pretty clear.
I find the best thing to say when discussing homosexuality with someone who may not be ensnared by it, but approves, is to just tell them that their argument is with God, not me. I will answer to God one day, so I go by what He tells me, not society.
Despite being a tiny fraction of the population, the combination of a sense of victimhood, self-righteousness and being on the “right side of history”, along with the belief that they are defined as human by their sexual behavior above all else, is what gives confidence to these angry bullies to behave as they do toward decent people.
21st century McCarthyism
Wonderful post. Yes, we all have temptations, and we all fall short. Yours is the best post that I have read in this whole controversy.
Love your enemy.
Once we become God’s children, that is who we are, our primary identification. What temptation is hardest for us to resist is not how people should be identified.
Wonderful post.
Maybe the right should out people who donate to LGBT causes.
They are angry bullies. In fact, the bullying legislation was bullied through on behalf of these angry bullies.
Of course, calling them "bullies" makes you "homosexualphobic" -- a badge of honor by my standards -- for calling them what they are ... Bullies.
