How can they seize ANYTHING without at least SOME evidence that he possesses them illegally?
FBI scum who burn churches and set people up, like Richard Jewell.
He’s 91 and COLLECTS ARROWHEADS.
BIG DEAL.
The lady who gave Hillary a dream catcher GOT A FELONY.
THIS is why nuts prove able to shoot up army bases and blow up Boston:
They spend their time and money on sifting your kitteh pic email and harassing 91-year-olds.
Priorities.
The fearsome enemy is NORMAL PEOPLE.
I hope they don’t find about my cat’s toy mouse collection.
They said that the collection was so extensive that it will take them 30 years to catalogue all of it —
30 years????
All these years and no one has missed this stuff and everyone has gotten along without it but now we have to employ a cadre of shufflers on the public payroll for the next 30 years to catalogue it.
Next they’ll be after coin and stamp collections.
Of course he's hated, worse he's a Republican. He's not just some old guy with a ‘collection’ - his collection itself has no equal anywhere.
They aren't after someone’s stamp and coin collection. This is completely different. Very few, if any, stamp/coin collections are priceless - as is this one.
The stress could likely kill him, and maybe that's what they are counting on. This is revenge on a white man who help change the world, thus enslaving minorities, women, and children. White men are not supposed to or allowed to do the things he has done in his life.
Everyone here thinks this seizure is illegal. I wonder what precipitated it. If the collector had some items that he stole, wouldn’t there be a legal way to get them back without dragging everything he owns out of the house?
I don’t know whether this is illegal search and seizure but it most assuredly is a ham-handed act of a bunch of bullies against a 91-year old citizen.
I hope to live that long is this what I can look forward to?
At least we know one federal agency isn’t running short of money.
The guy is likely to die before he sees his collection again.
This article here: FBI working with artifact collector to return items says the 91-year old contacted the FBI --- "Northern said Miller had contacted the FBI about returning the items, but couldn't elaborate on why Miller was looking to repatriate the artifacts now."
Here's my own semi-educated guess, for what it's worth: I'll speculate that when he collected these, they were all legal transactions, as far as he knew.
But since that time, Political Correctness has mandated that all things Indian have been "stolen" by the evil White Man. Which is why Native American artifact collections have become illegal and must be "repatriated" immediately to the government or a museum or whatever, and all sports team names (eg Redskins) that have been stolen from them must be immediately returned, etc etc etc.
So my first guess is that over recent years he has watched, horrified, in the news how his decades of loving labor have changed from being his pride and joy in a lifelong accomplishment, to instead being an ex post facto shameful, evil life of crime (or at least in the eyes of our cultural masters).
Also, another speculation: I'm wondering if he saw an internet article or TV documentary on items that were stolen decades ago from other private collectors, recognizes many of them as ones he bought from someone posing as the legal owner, and so just now realizes that he was the unwitting "fence" for those stolen goods a half century or so ago.
Wow!
If the Fed’s want your stuff, they will take it.
They are even bold about it.
An accident the guy was 91 and could not fight back?
I think not.
Yeah, let’s forget about the rapists and murderers who wander around freely. Let’s instead attack elderly men and his insidious collection of stones.
Is determining cultural value of anything the purview of the FBI?
Shouldn't the fact that a crime has been committed precede any such question?
The most baffling question, as yet unanswered is that the "authorities" seem totally uninclined to describe the nature of the artifacts listed. Any of them.
Curiouser and curiouser.
A little government looting. I wonder how many pieces will disappear and not be cataloged.
They’ll seize the artifacts and tax the relatives for their worth.
This man is a surviving member of the original MANHATTAN PROJECT team!
This whole thing is crap.
I do agree with the allusions to the coin collection, and the compound fire at Waco that killed a bunch of kids (another well liked Democrat was on top of that, too)
