DETROIT — A suburban Detroit man was in critical condition Thursday with severe head injuries after a neighborhood mob beat and kicked him when he stopped to check on a 10-year-old boy who stepped from a curb into the path of his pickup.
The 54-year-old man, whose name was not released, was being treated at a Detroit hospital as police scoured the east side neighborhood where he was attacked Wednesday afternoon. The boy, David Harris, was expected to recover from his injuries, according to Desmond Key, who said he was the 10-year-old’s uncle.
The driver — who lives just north of Detroit in Macomb County’s Roseville — wasn’t at fault in the accident, said Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody.
“A preliminary investigation shows the kid stepped off the curb in front of him,” Woody said. “No way he could have stopped in time.”

This situation encourages hit and run drivers. You accidently hit a kid and you see many angry black people watching. What will you do after reading stuff like this? My advice, drive to the nearest police station and report it and accept the legal consequences, it’s better than being dead or having to shoot a lot of people.
I hit a toddler once or more accurately, he hit me. Reading, Pa 1967, I was driving down a residential one way street, cars parked on both sides and a kid comes barreling down an inclined drive way on a tricycle and smacked into the front of my car, he hit it really hard. I stopped got out and picked up him and his tricycle, went and knocked on the door. I told the woman what just happened and she grabbed the kid roughly and started scolding him.
She wasn’t angry with me, neither did she thank me for stopping to make sure the kid was ok. I immediately drove to the police station and reported all the details, never heard another word about it.
The accident itself rattled me to the core, on initial impact, I thought for sure, the kid would be dead.
I believe it takes place in East Mogadishu, Illinois.
Hilarity ensues.

Another thread on this story was from a CBS affiliate, and they identified the driver as white, and the mob as black.
We have to drive through east Austin to get to the airport, unless we want to use toll road SH 130. I make sure the doors are locked when we hit IH 35.

It obviously wasn’t a White mob (is there any such thing?) attacking a specially-privileged-protected-group-member, or the headlines would say so.

For a while I had to travel thru the not so great area of a African American city. A family friend and retired state cop said the same thin in anything happened.
Immediately call 911, advise the dispatcher of your location, what happened and that you fear for you safety and keep driving. If, er, when a mob starts to form, don’t stop.
We moved from California to Wyoming four years ago and I really don’t miss the angry black people we used to see all the time. Up here the black folks we see are tourists going to Yellowstone and they’re always good people.

U r correct. We r going to Michigan this summer and my husband refused to fly into Detroit, even tho it was cheaper and we could get a direct flight. He is from Michigan and all of his relatives said it was not safe. See tag line...
