Sports broadcaster Bob Costas is not backing down in the face of criticism for his outspoken advocacy of gun control. In fact, hes challenging his critics to a bet.
Costas was asked about the controversial political positions he has taken on the air, including gun control, in an interview with Late Night host Seth Meyers, and said its very much an issue in sports that deserves to be talked about.
Heres what I would say to anybody who any time they hear the word guns automatically goes off, like, Oh, theyre going to repeal the Second Amendment, Costas said. Lets make a bet, you and me. Lets say over the next five years well do a Google search. Well have an independent party monitor it. You keep track of how many good and constructive things are associated with athletes having a gun, and Ill keep track of all the tragedies and criminality and folly. And lets see who comes out ahead or behind as the case may be.
Costas said regardless of Americans positions on gun control generally, its undeniable that sports has a gun culture.

Bob, you're a sniveling dumbass, and here's why:
Heres what I would say to anybody who any time they hear the word guns automatically goes off, like, Oh, theyre going to repeal the Second Amendment, Costas said. Lets make a bet, you and me. Firearms in the hands of responsible citizens, most of whom are NOT athletes, prevent hundreds of crimes per day. These non-incidents never make it into the news precisely because no crime occurred, because an armed citizen was able to intervene on the side of law and order. Care to explain how Google is going to account for this omission, Bob?
See, Bob...that kind of failure on your part is why you've been reduced to a whining poltroon who reads a teleprompter through Coke-bottle glasses. Perhaps you should consider some intellectual expansion, Bob. Might do you some good.

Hey Costas, tens of thousands of highschool, college and professional athletes when hunting, went shooting, and protected their families and country with firearms in 2013. What have you got to compare to that?
Time to pay up Costas.
What Bob really means is, “Too many uppity blacks have guns.”

It worked great for Piers Morgan.

What a sucker's bet. This asshat knows full well that the liberal media rarely reports legitimate self defense stories where a firearm was used. Even if they did most incidents where a firearm was used to prevent a crime end with nothing much to report. Bad guy makes a threat, good guy pulls a gun, bad guy runs away with wet pants, end of story.
In addition to that how many times is a 6'6" 350+ lb. guy targeted by a punk criminal?

You keep track of how many good and constructive things are associated with athletes having a gun, sex and Ill keep track of all the tragedies and criminality and folly. And lets see who comes out ahead or behind as the case may be. You willing Bob?
And at the end we will enact all sorts of laws about sex.
Oh, you don't want to do that?
You want to be able to screw anyone you want with no laws preventing you?
Hmmmm.
I will bet that there is more "tragedies and criminality and folly" associated with sex then guns by a ten to one ratio at least.

Exactly. American gun culture is supporting the 2nd Amend., collecting, shooting for recreation and defense and hunting.

What a total loon.
I have a better bet for Costas...I’ll bet you $1 million to any charity of your choice (or mine when I win) if you go without an armed body guard for one year!

Bob, you keep track of how many black males are shot by black males, and I’ll keep track of how many white males are not shot by white males.
Makes about as much sense.

Costas, like Colbert, is a racist in denial. He is obviously talking about professional BLACK athletes. If that is your proposition Bob, to take all guns from BLACK players, I say let’s do it!

I'd wager Adrian Peterson has more illigitimate children in the last 10 years than Minnesota has people with permits to carry who have committed murder/manslaughter in the last 10 years.

It’s a sucker’s bet. The press prefers to cover tragedies (if it bleeds it leads). Of course there will be more “bad stories.”
