FWIW I have an uncle that was involved in reconstruction after WWII in France that told us stories of slicing into UOs from WWI with excavating equipment.

Saw the results of a Korean that tried to disarm an anti-tank mine in the middle of a village. His guts were hanging from the overhead wires. Two little kids went with him.
