The GOP Battle: Paul vs. Cruz
Poletical ^ | April 1st, 2014 | T. Carter

Posted on 04/02/2014 6:50:30 PM PDT by PingPongChampion

There is a fierce battle brewing between three sects of a divided Republican Party. The Rand Paul libertarians and the Ted Cruz social conservatives are drumming up support for what could be a bloody competition to rule the roost of 2016. In the safe middle is the establishmentarian moderates and the elites of the Republican Party, like Chris Christie and Marco Rubio. The most watched and most important battle, however, will be the battle between the GOP's two rights – the battle between Paul and Cruz.

In an interview with Vocativ, Rand Paul spoke of a Republican Party that requires a softer approach to social issues. In 2012, when Ted Cruz won his senate seat in Texas, the Washington Post likened him to a socially conservative crusader. What both men have in common is their strong commitment to the US Constitution and their strong support from within the Tea Party.

Two fat losers with nothing to offer. What’s left of the free world wouldn’t be impressed with either of them. It would be very sad if that’s the best the US can do.

Right now, it’s anybody’s game. The media wants negative attention given to ANY, repeat ANY potentially strong candidate that will drive them from power. It worked the last election if you can remember all those potentials that got drummed away from any possibility of ever being elected? That technique has been the demodummies way since day one. Throw enough BS against the wall, setup any road blocks you can to stop ANYONE from getting a foothold on your turf. I’m taking a “wait and see” approach for now.

Sad, but true. Once the Constitution is ignored, anything, even the impossible, is possible.

Welcome to their obamanation, where obamacare is not an unconstitutional mandate, but simply a tax. Yeehaw.

Are Paul and Cruz playing “Good Cop/Bad Cop” with the GOP Establishment, with Rand Playing “good cop” and Ted playing “bad cop” in order to make sure that at least one of them survives the primary process....

I really have to wonder sometimes ....

Especially with Rand’s seemingly lurch towards the GOPe recently...

[ Dude was with his American momma he didn’t have a choice ]

I think it has been debunked as Cruz’s mommy was of the proper age to transfer citizenship, unlike Obammy’s mommy...

Cruz’s mommy was in her late 20’s, Stanley Ann was barely even legal..

But he’s still qualified to be president.

Under Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 of the US Constitution, Congress has authority to create law regarding naturalization which includes citizenship

Section 5 of the 14th Amendment states, “ The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”

And Title 8 of the US Code, Section 1401 defines the following as citizens of the United States upon birth… or natural born citizens:
•Anyone born inside the United States. The person must be “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States. (This would exempt the child of a diplomat, for example, from this provision.)
•Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
•Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
•Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
•Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)

Cruz is not a NBC. It’s a shame that he isn’t forthcoming about this, him being a Constitutional scholar, I am sure he knows. Maybe he thinks a precedent has been set so anything goes. He was also on the wrong side in some recent foreign stuff, I think it was Syria but I could be wrong.

Paul is a slimy weasel politician just like the rest of them, with a bit of spitshine.

Be assured that Cruz knows the Constitution far better than the most knowledgable birther.

It is truly a shame that the birthers got sidetracked by leftist trolls into the NBC dead-end.

Had you stayed with the long-form birth certificate and where Zero was actually born, you might've accomplished something remarkable.

Instead, you've been converted into howlers at the moon -- even potentially damaging to a serious conservative candidate.

A triumph of left-wing disinformation and manipulation...

Nonsense.

Have fun with your new improved Constitution where any anchor baby can be prez. Not saying Cruz is that at all.

I appreciate the need to get around certain key words by redefining them to suit one's wants and desires, but beware that two edged sword.

Whether careless, accidental or deliberate, redefining has been a very effective, though in my opinion dishonest, tactic to change laws by changing definitions, as is the case with NBC. The communists, for example, have long used this approach to great success here and around the world.

Soon, this same tactic will be successful in redefining "marriage" to mean "whatever" instead of the strict definition intended and once, only a few short years ago, almost universally understood. There are many other examples.

The same is true for the definition of NBC you posted, nullifying the original intent, in my opinion, by watering down the original purity of the term to now mean virtually any status whatsoever.

What truths were once self-evident common sense are now, or soon will be, anything you want them to be, depending on how you like your meaning of "is" or any other word in question.

I find that sort of folly ironic and tragic, but I won't argue with you and risk getting the boot. I was kicked out of the only family that adopted me and I'd rather not repeat the experience here. I will merely recite what I've learned in a different time and leave it at that, while I seek a safe place to watch this tower of babble implode.

That’s funny. The constitutional language should have been that “if the Dude was with his American Mama he can be president”!! Ha that’s good !! You are a man behind your time. Had you been there ,you could have influenced James Madison you could have changed the constitution !! Instead it requires birth in the confines of USA boundaries. We don’t need years of litigation on this clear issue. Move on!! Trust me.

Another elitest attack on two good conservatives. And stupid us are falling for it! Both Paul and Cruz are vastly better then anything the elites have to offer. No more Bush’s, no more Clintons! Go Ted, go Rand!

Basically he is a liberal who doesn’t want to pay high taxes.

Perfect summation.

I'm betting he will run regardless of the GOP nomination, perhaps even as a Dem.

I believe US facilities - embassies, consulates and military installation - are considered American soil. A lot of American babies on born overseas in military hospitals.
