Scarborough: Christie's 'Ship Has Sailed,' Donors Lukewarm on Jeb Bush

Big money GOP donors are reluctantly leaning toward former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for president in 2016, said talk show host Joe Scarborough.

"The whispers are out there. You hear it among top [Republican National Committee] donors. There is not an excitement. I'll be really honest with you. Nobody's going, 'Oh, we got to get Jeb,'" Scarborough said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Monday.

Donors are eyeing Bush because they see him as the only nominee who could beat presumptive Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, Scarborough said, adding that contenders like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz aren't considered viable against the former secretary of state.

"None of these big donors think Rand Paul is going to win. None of these big donors think Ted Cruz is going to win. None of these big donors think, fill in the blank, you name it," Scarborough said.

Paul spoke at the UC Berkeley International Forum, totally apolitical, even if you could find more than a dozen young Republicans at UC, it was bipartisan. Of note, ultra-progressive Robert Reich, former Clinton's Sec. of Labor, now a Berkeley professor said after the event, paraphrasing ‘few can get standing ovations both at CPAC and at Berkeley’ Amen.

Walker yes Perry not so much since Texas is a weak governor state. Perry’s performance in the 2012 primaries was so bad “I don’t remember” that I don’t think he can recover. But I do think he is going to give it a go.

I agree. All this hype coming from the Libtard presses is just that. I don’t think any of our likely republican candidates would have a problem beating her.

We’ve had a former Texas Governor as President, one whom many positions of I do disagree with per Bush and Ma Richards was in there as well but now when Rick Perry is discussed, the governorship is not as powerful, we’ve got it.

The RATS can’t mount an effective NBC attack against Cruz as that would reveal the avenue to get at zero’s NBC condition.

I know I don’t speak for everyone in the country, but it just doesn’t matter a hill of beans to me.

What does matter is that he is the only man who has stood up for our freedom, and he did so at great expense to his reputation.

That is why in my mind he is the only person in this country who has done ANYTHING to earn my vote, so he will have it, and no one else will.

I don’t care what is said about him at all.

I cannot save this country, and I no longer really believe that it can be saved. But what I can do is direct my vote in a direction in which I believe it will do the most good, and that is what I intend to do.

Everyone else who sat silently on the side lines while tyranny reigned or even actively aided the tyranny will never have my vote again.

And I further say that if my decision results in this house of cards falling, then may it fall as fast and hard as it possibly can.

I have had enough of this.

Nobody's going, 'Oh, we got to get Jeb,'" Scarborough said on MSNBC's...

That's not what I heard stopping, by accident, on pMSNBC this weekend.

I figured the libs are talking up JB because given a choice between a democrat and a liberal republican "light" democrat...dems will vote for the democrat.

NBC, Naturalized Born Citizen isn’t an issue at all.

But things have gotten worse with Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Holder, these are real tyrants, I want the best candidate out there for President but these above are loathsome beyond belief. So if one wants that perfect candidate and he doesn’t show up, that’s up to you.

Reagan signed that bill in California back in the day, yet now, he is looked at as one of our most pro-life presidents ever.

The point was that it wasn’t a Republican event, not that Reich favors Rand Paul, but you knew that, right? And I’m sure that they would standing in their seats applauding Jeb or Christie or you pick em.

"Buy a ticket and go see Jeb speak...he couldn't sell a snow cone in the Sahara. Here in the Bay Area last week, Rand Paul at UC Berkeley, yes Berkeley, had students on their feet applauding his defense of privacy. Ted Cruz regularly has the same response among the young. And without such enthusiasm, the GOP is dead."

That is an excellent point.

Rubio fooled me and I voted for him. That mistake will not happen again.
Several issues I will not bend for Abortion, Amnesty, small government.
Bush is squishy on all three.
