Urgent Prayers Needed for RedMDer's Beautiful Wife, Lynn [Update 214, 269, 373, 502. 551]

Our good friend, RedMDer's beautiful wife, Lynn is in ICU at a hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Yesterday, the news RedMDer received from two doctors was grim, but today, another wonderful doctor said that he thought her condition was "treatable." PRAISE GOD!

According to the note I received from Steve just a little earlier tonight, he thought they might start Lynn on chemo tonight!!!

I am not privy to all the details and it's not my business, but please, please, pray for Lynn's complete healing, and add some prayers for RedMDer(Steve) their two, beautiful adult daughters and their two darling granddaughters.

Lynn has been to so many doctors over the past two years and now this. At least we have hope.

I have a dear niece, Christie, going thru the same thing right now. I will pray for Lynn every time I pray for Christie ...which is several times a day.

A few practical suggestions on the radiation treatment. The vomiting from having it applied to my abdomen persisted for 4 to 6 hours commencing about 30 minutes after the treatment. Eat a good meal that is fully digested before you go for the treatment. No sense in adding to the material that will be ejected. At 1200 rads, the diarrhea sets in. I found Compazine was helpful for the nausea. My treated area extended from sternum to pubic bone with the spine/pelvis getting some major hits. As such, a blood draw was done before each radiation treatment to make sure I hadn't dropped below a safe threshold due to bone marrow damage. My physical vitality was impacted for 2 years after the treatment. I could speed skate for 7 hours a day before the treatment and could not complete a single circuit of a skating rink floor afterwards. Two years later, I was able to mow the lawn again. Be patient. You will have no energy. If you need to vomit after a treatment, do it. Get the toxic crap out of your stomach. Holding it back is no virtue. It needs to go.

My experience dates back to 1985. The treatment was successful. The road back was slow. The only thing more wearing than the treatment is having people ask you how your are feeling over and over. Be a good sport and provide a single point of contact for your wife so she doesn't have to endure constantly recounting the experience to a crowd of well meaning friends and family.

We had a consultation with the radiologist. Lynn will have radiation 5 days a week for 7 weeks starting on the 14th along with the chemo 3 days a week for 4 more weeks.
We both know that it will be a long road to recovery. My biggest part in all of this is really just to support her in any way that I can. There is some good news though. Lynn slept on her right side the past few nights for the first time in at least 6 months because it was uncomfortable. Maybe that is some small sign that the treatments are working.
She will be pretty much confined to home except for the hospital and Dr. visits. She will be vulnerable to infections during the treatments and for some time after that. We also have to consider the oxygen supply. So far we have a machine at home but only one 6 hour bottle and two 3 hour bottles when not at home or if we lose electricity. There is also a home nurse to check vitals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Also, our dear friend onyx's husband is in the hospital. Please pray for DrO and onyx.
