Here Are The States That Are Most Likely To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse

There's some debate about how to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. Some say science will save us all, some will rely on math, and still others are banking on specialty gadgets. You can buy Zombie Apocalypse survival kits, and there are even Zombie Apocalypse maps that pinpoint where the danger zones would be in a zombie-mergency.

But the geniuses at Estately have crunched the numbers and determined which U.S. states are the best prepared for any zombie-related disasters in the near future based on 11 metrics, from residents' physical ability to weapons access.

Estately zombie apocalypse states ranking Estately

We weren't kidding when we said Estately crunched the numbers for all sorts of zombie-busting factors. Here's what the company looked at for each state:

sure NYC will be a mess, but there is a ton of empty farmland, old orchards, woods, etc thru out NYS....I would gladly pitch my tent up around Old Forge or Lake Piseco any day of the week.....

No Sh**, and, even granting a fairly even distribution of firearms the state where you can generally plink cans from the back porch of you or your friends house on 10 acres is going to generally produce a few more marksmen than states that consider it a misdemeanor to discharge an airgun...

The "gun owners" numbers are Federal compliance numbers which actually have nothing to do with gun ownership.

Paintball, LaserTag, and "Knowledge of Zombies" have the same weight as Military/Veteran?

Nope. Not buying it.

My odds in PA are better than any other state. Why? 1) Cold. Zombies hate the Hawk. 2) Many guns (4th or 5th in total gun purchases nationwide) 3) Lots of forestland, clear-cutting permitted, so many chainsaws. [Martial arts? Bah! Nothing works better in a close quarter zombie-melee than chainsaws.] 4) Just about as many old people as Florida, providing many, many decoys. 5) Two large cities at opposite ends of the state are both very far from me. 6) Gas boom. Propane everywhere. Oh yeah, light 'em up boys!

I like my odds.

Stupid listing Texas barely above Hawaii. Besides Texans welcoming a target rich environment, Hawaii's listing is bogus, unless the fools are only considering Oahu. Not exactly a difficult climate to survive in if you can find food and water.

Like most mainland oriented fools, they ignore the large stretches of water between the over packed Honolulu area and the other islands. How would the zombies get here to neighbor islands? And there are a lot more gun owners than they seem to think.

You also forgot to mention that Agriculture areas have lots of useful farm equipment....

Dig a moat around property with this....

the ones that are able to shamble and stumble through the moat....Run over them with this:

Finish Burying them with this:

all those zombie hordes from the city and their decomposing flesh in the fields will certainly provide next year a bumper crop if properly used!

See,onyx, I don’t have to worry about Zombies coming here.

Tell a Zombie “Delaware” and they say “Dela-WHERE?”

They’ll never find me. ;)

I subscribe to the World War Z zombie model (the book, not the crappy movie), and look to natural barriers and population density as key elements.

Hawaii would be #1 on my list simply because Oahu is heavily armed (military bases) and geographically isolated. The remaining islands are toast if the infection spreads there. AK would be #2 given the military assets there and the archipelago at the southwest.

Any city with more than a million people likely would be toast. California would try to legislate the zombies away, then try outreach programs before San Francisco was consumed. San Diego might survive but for the LA zombies and the Tijuana zombies surrounding them.

One of the criteria should be the likelyhood that the state government would try to protect the zombies, such as labeling them endangered species.

Glad to see we’re safely down a few spots from the top three, but still high enough to be comfortable; means fewer refugees headed our way.

On reading it again, I call BS on any state with a huge city teeming with EBT dwellers. Ohio comes to mind. How will the rest of the state cope with those millions boiling out?

There is no ranking for climate and how survivable it would be.

I question the scoring. Ohio is green, but Pennsylvania is red. Maybe they should break the states up a bit. Western Pa already survived the first couple of Zombie Apocalypses. Experience should count for something.

District of Columbia at 49? DC will likely be one of the safer places to be; Fedzilla will not allow DC to devolve into chaos.
