Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld told Greta Van Susteren on Monday, A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement. It does not take a genius.
Rumsfeld was talking about Barack Obamas failed diplomacy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
CNS News reported:
Donald Rumsfeld, who served as U.S. Defense Secretary under President George W. Bush, blames poor diplomacy by the Obama administration for the current strained relations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Our relationship with Karzai and with Afghanistan was absolutely first-rate in the Bush administration, Rumsfeld told Fox Newss Greta Van Susteren on Monday. It has gone down hill like a toboggan ever since the Obama administration came in.
Rumsfeld pointed to the fact that the Obama administration has failed to get Karzai to sign an agreement that would allow some U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014, when combat ends.
The U.S. has status of forces agreements with more than a hundred countries, Rumsfeld noted. A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement, he said. It does not take a genius. And we have so mismanaged that relationship.
Rummy as always is right and the fact that American troops will not be staying in Afghanistan is proof that Obama is incompetent.
How long before some leftist says that Rummy called 0 an ape?
Chris Matthews needs morphine, STAT!
When you elect someone who has never had to are a decision in ther life more complex than what to order at a restaurant, this is what you get.
I love Rummy. He calls ‘em like he sees ‘em.
So is Putin going to make a deal with Karzai to fund his government in return for mineral rights, then send in some spetsnaz force to protect him and eventually make it a Russian client state. Russia is already supplying Syria and Eqypt so why not? Yeah it didn’t work out so good for Russia before but you never know.
Right on!
Yeah, that is gonna happen, even if he spoke the truth.
Dammit, Rumsfield, stop insulting trained apes!
Exactly. That's all the leftists have, which is why they claim if so often.
I am a decided Conservative, with the capital C...yet it sounds racist to say that to me. But, Obama should have some tough skin by now and take it like a man. Or not.
It depends Don. If the Ape was trained in Marxism, the result probably wouldn’t be too different.
My own arm-chair general view - US should have never got involved in "nation building" in Afghanistan. It can not be done, and this will be proven in spades before too long.
Should have had minimal footprint, few boots on the ground, stay just over the border. Become another "tribe" in the conflict, albeit one with F-15's, drones and hellfire missiles to allow us to go after Al Qaeda when needed, and broker for their own conflicts.
Oh boy, oh boy, THIS is gonna piss some people off! LOL
My feeling is that if we got involved in “nation building,” we should have stuck it out. The decent people in these countries (Iraq and Afghanistan) were happy to see us and obviously thought that they were going to have a stable, secular society as a result. But the first thing we did in both cases was kowtow to Islam (their ideology), which was exactly their problem in the first place, and then the second thing was to announce that we were leaving ASAP.
If we’d done the same after we occupied Germany, Hitler (or his successor) would probably now be running the world.
Well yeah, he went to war against Iraq looking for mushroom clouds instead.
Many people of all political persuasions reflexively relate "ape" to people of African descent.
Personally, I blame Darwinism as much as any racist upbringing they might have endured.
Yes, Rummy could have made his point using "cats" instead of "apes" if he'd been measuring his words and stopped to consider what the actual racists would do with his remarks. But, I'm guessing he gladly gave up that nonsense upon retirement.
