It was inevitable.
As was the case with Ben Carson, a grassroots effort to draft Sen. Ted Cruz has been launched by those eager to see the Texas Republican and his plainspoken policy prepare for and enter the 2016 White House race. The earlybird political action committee founded by one Raz Shafer - a former Cruz staffer - is on message and succinct.
“It’s time for Americans to kick-start a national campaign to draft Ted Cruz. We can’t sit on the sidelines and allow a repeat of 2008 and 2012. That’s exactly what Hillary Clinton and the Democrats want us to do. It’s also what Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, and the rest of the Republican establishment wants,” Mr. Shafer notes in his outreach at, yes, RunTedRun.com which is careful not to appear as anything official.
Yet.
But the Fort Worth-based conservative is optimistic and eager, and of course there’s a public petition to sign.
“Our goal is to collect 1 million signed petitions this year to serve as the backbone of a campaign that will culminate with Ted Cruz taking the Oath of Office as the 45th President of the United States on January 20, 2017. It’s time for conservatives to be proud of their vote again,” they advise.

I am here for only one reason...
I like to WIN!
Wining is not everything, it is the ONLY thing...coach Lombardi.
Whoever has the best chance to win in my opinion in 2016,
will get the most money from me. In that respect I follow president Reagan’s philosophy...vote for the most conservative who can win, not necessarily the most conservative.
So which pro-amnesty candidate are you backing—Jeb?
After one electionm, then another, nothing much seems to change. But it is fast approaching the point where liberalism can be reversed. The American people now truly believe in liberalism but want it implemented “more fairly”. I personally don’t think Senator Cruz will run for president in 2016 but will instead seek Senate reelection in 2018.
My preference at the moment, on March 25, 2014:
Gov Walker of Wis
Senator Rand Paul
Senator Ted Cruz
Gov Perry of TX
But I will not donate any money until 2014 elections are over. And may be much later than that until we see more
face time of various candidates.
Cruz is the only prospect on that list who is not pro-amnesty, and amnesty will be the end to any conservative/constitutional politics in the country.
Those rascals like to do that, don't they?
He's already hearing the call ..... I think Karl Rove is whispering in his ear again.
Amazing thought, that Perry would listen to Rove (considering what Rove has always thought about Perry, publicly), but perhaps Rove is using a cut-out among Perry's "special friends" (the 288 plutocrats who give him his campaign $$$$).
Rove will try to encourage nominal or reputed conservatives as Judas horses again, or just to soak up the available funds in the conservative end of the pool. Conservatives usu. have just enough $$$ for one "insurgency" candidacy (thus a RiNO "political consultant" laying it all out on AM Radio one day two years ago), so if Karl gets in there and talks three or four candidates into jumping in ..... he and his Big Money horse win by default.
Conservative politics received a big blow with the election
of Barack Hussein Obama, Harry Reid and his 54 cohorts in senate. During his 8 years in office BHO will appoint a slew of judges who are already shaping our future.
Only chance GOP has in 2016 to stay united. If conservatives stay home on election day, all they are doing is cutting off their ears to spite their nose!
Citizenship via amnesty will be on steroids with the election of another democrat to white house in 2016. All republican immigration reform proposals slow down the march towards citizenship.
You really are an incarnation of the GOPe mindset, aren’t you! Walker has a Hispanic wife, like Jeb has, and he is strongly pro-amnesty.
One of those pro-amnesty Republicans as president would be worse than another Democrat, because enough of the House GOP would feel compelled to go along with a new GOP president.
Staying united in 2016 should be the GOPe honoring the wishes of the GOP base and stopping trying to undermine the tea party movement.
That is shallow thinking. Amnesty resulting in citizenship is minimum 13 years away on selective basis only.
If you think a democrat president will be better than gov Walker or whoever, you are ignorant of the number of federal judges, supreme court justices Hillary will get to appoint. Those judges will last 30 years. SCOTUS is the reason we have abortions legal.
I am just amazed at the shallow thinking of people like you. No wonder we have Obama in the white house.
He has my support.
This type of thinking is what gave us Obama. Happy now?
I THINK TED CRUZ IS GREAT!
But watch out when MSM begins their dirty work as soon as he announces a run. He will be vilified at the same level as Sarah Palin.
Yes, of course he will but, isn’t that what also eventually happens to all of the other candidates too?
Are you suggesting that we go with the one that the media villifies the least...or, the last.
Yes, let us default to letting them choose for us.
Do you remember how much the media hated Ronald Reagan?
Our country is not in a pre Goldwater era situation.
It is way more reminesant of a pre Reagan era, there is a huge silent majority out there.
Add the disgusted swing voters and there will be a land slide.
I don’t believeThese mid terms are going to change anything no matter how they go as long as Obama sits on his throne.
2016 is the prize and could be the end of the GOP.
The end of the GOP being as in replaced by a real conservative party.
Jeb Bush will make Amnesty a reality. Jeb Bush will continue on the same trajectory as his Brother and Father. The Bush philosophy and goals for this country were never same as Ronald Reagan. “Voodoo Economics”.... I remember that crap well. The Reagan way uplifted this family into home ownership and entrepreneurship. The Bush presidencies helped to undo all that Ronald Reagan set into motion... a rediscovery of our liberty, our Bill of Rights, our Constitution.
I hear Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Mike Lee .... these are the people who espouse the Reagan way.
You prefer death of conservatism by many tiny blows vs. death in one fell swoop. I prefer preservation.
Your concept of deep thinking is pathetic. Once we have the new amnesty voters there won’t be any chance of constitutionalists being named as judges and justices.
Somehow the Democrats aren’t burdened with their own pantywaist equivalent to the GOPe surrender monkeys supposedly on our team.
