(CNN) - Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards said Monday he's running for the state's 6th Congressional district.
Edwards, who was released from federal prison three years ago after serving nearly a decade on charges of racketeering, conspiracy and extortion, made the announcement at a Press Club meeting in Baton Rouge.
"I acknowledge that there are good reasons why I should not run. I know that, but there are better reasons why I should and good reasons have to give way to better reasons and therefore, I will be a candidate for congress in the sixth congressional district this year," Edwards said.

Makes perfect sense.
A federal felony conviction keeps Edwards from running for state offices, but not from a congressional seat.
Makes perfect sense.

AND LEGALLY, he can’t vote for himself.
But a couple of cemeteries makes that a moot point.
Think a lot of OUR problem is we are taking on too many challenges. (Granted there are far too many cases of BS going on) We should concentrate on one thing at a time.
Whatever order you put them in, it has to be done as a group with enough people going after their so called ‘representatives’.
Approach them with say ‘term limits’ and barrage them with our dissatisfaction with the present system.
Going at these things with a ‘shotgun’ approach and not enough attention is brought to a lone issue.
About boycotting, wouldn’t it be great if 1000 ‘Irish’ bars or ANY bars would contact Guiness, Sam Adams, Heiniken and tell them to discontinue shipping as you will no longer be selling their product because they apparently don’t like or respect YOUR values.
Remember ‘Chic-fil-a’ and how ‘WE’ came together as a group and ‘pointed out’ the error of some peoples ways. AND WE got ‘good press’.
NOT wall street protest coverage but GOOD coverage.
10 years in the slammer? He was just making new contacts and learning new techniques. An excellent RAT resume enhancer.
Prison is like attending an Institution of Higher Learning for a CorruptocRat. Now he can return to the Congressional workforce and apply his new skills and knowledge for the detriment of the nation.
No mention he’s a DEMOCRAT in the first paragraph!!! If it was a Republican it would read ...”Disgraced REPUBLICAN FELON”
He needs to make up for lost time.
Just what Louisiana needs. Another democrat crook in office.
Edwin Edwards
The five words most feared by a Louisiana politician: Will the defendant please rise.
The only way I can lose is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.
Edwin Edwards
Unfortunately Edwards will soon be uttering HIS favorite five words:
“Laissez les bons temps rouler!!”
Let the good times roll!
They didn’t call him the “silver zipper’ for nothing.
Like Clinton, this guy has no shame.
No mention of his being a demodummie and when did we ever see a shameful demodummie?
Hey! Lache pas la patate, mon neg!
Lache pas la patate!
***Disgusting! What’s sad is, he’ll win in a landslide!
“The only way I can lose is if Im caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.
Edwin Edwards”
Teddy Kennedy proved a male Democrat can get away with being caught with a dead girl. In today’s Democrat Party the live boy is a badge of honor.
He’s guilty, she’s NOT!
