TEL AVIV In recent weeks, representatives for the Obama administration have held meetings with a senior politician here in which the U.S. delegates brought up the possibility of replacing Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister, according to an informed Jerusalem diplomatic source.
The meetings were held with Israels popular finance minister, Yair Lapid, founder and leader of the Yesh Atid Party, which became the second-largest party in the Knesset winning 19 seats in the last election.
The diplomatic source said the Obama administration identified Lapid as a moderate who could be helpful in pushing the Israeli government into accepting the framework to create a future Palestinian state.
According to the source, the talks included the possibility of Lapid bolting Netanyahus government if the prime minister rejects the U.S.-brokered regional talks.

This sounds like Clinton back in the ‘90’s.
I don’t think it will work this time.

Your excellent words need no editing or re working.

I have various problems with Bibi, but if Obama hates him, he must be OK.
More to the point, given Putin is trying to re-assemble the Soviet Union and the Ukraine will probably fall into fascism in response, I would think there are more pressing issues than creating another failed terrorist state in the Middle East.

If Obama thinks he (or America) has any influence on our allies left, he's smoking Choom again. That ship sailed. Last I heard, Israel still elected their leaders too.

"Ngô Đình Diệm was the first president of South Vietnam. In the wake of the French withdrawal from Indochina as a result of the 1954 Geneva Accords, Diệm led the effort to create the Republic of Vietnam. " I had to wiki it. But I was born in 1969.

Ngô Đình Diệm (About this sound listen; 3 January 1901 2 November 1963) was the first president of South Vietnam (19551963).[1] In the wake of the French withdrawal from Indochina as a result of the 1954 Geneva Accords, Diệm led the effort to create the Republic of Vietnam. Accruing considerable US support due to his staunch anti-communism, he announced victory after a fraudulent 1955 plebiscite in which he won 600,000 votes from an electorate of 450,000 and began building a right-wing dictatorship in South Vietnam.

Way to push the Israeli people into Benny’s lap, let them know we are meddling with their choices and watch the support for him climb sky high.

Clinton did it, in the 90s. Sent Rahm Emmanuel over there, and he set up a Clinton-style destroy mission, and basically took over Israeli politics, and next election, Bibi was out. Rahm’s probably busy right now screwing up a city with more citizens than Israel, but maybe someone else could do it again.
