The Marine Corps will open new combat jobs to women, allow women to volunteer for combat specialty training previously closed to them and create a co-ed experimental task force to evaluate how female Marines perform as part of a ground combat unit, Marine officials said.
The task force will be made up of about 460 Marines, and about one quarter will be women, said Capt. Maureen Krebs, a Marine spokeswoman. The task force will look like a small battalion landing team with attachments such as artillery, tanks and amphibious assault vehicles similar to the ground combat portion of a Marine Expeditionary Unit, but about half the size.

Are they lesbians? At any rate, my guess is this will not go well.
I would expect at least 35-40% casualty rates for this force, as a bunch of guys will die trying to save and defend the women.
You’re a doosh. What could go wrong?
Any truth to the rumor that Demi Moore will be the new C.O.?
Fools in charge.
Similarly, there is a huge push to get a woman into the Navy Seals. This stuff is what preoccupies Obama’s military goals.

Ahhh, Vasquez.
Hudson (male): Anyone ever mistake you for a man, Vasquez?

I assume that combat effectiveness might drop for about 3-4 days each month.
That movie had some great minor-role military characters.
The Sergeant - Apone - was ex-military and the actor grunts actually trained for a week or two as squads just to prepare for the roles. The actor who played Hicks came in late, as he filled in for an actor who got sick and didn’t go through all the other stuff but he fit right in.
Cavalry.
You can remember because "calvaria" = a skull, esp. the top, and "cavallus" = horse (in Late Latin).
That said, women have no place in combat units. I'm a huntin' fishin' shootin' kind of gal, and I got a lot of muscular strength from my dad's line so I can generally do a man's work, even pushing 60. But I know I am not and was never suited for that sort of work. Inadequate upper body strength.
