Indian aircraft on Friday combed Andaman and Nicobar, made up of more than 500 mostly uninhabited islands, for signs of missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 that evidence suggests was last headed towards the heavily forested archipelago.
Popular with tourists and anthropologists alike, the islands form Indias most isolated state. They are best known for dense rainforests, coral reefs and hunter-gatherer tribes who have long resisted contact with outsiders.
The search for MH370 has expanded dramatically in the past week but failed to locate the plane or any wreckage, making it one of the most baffling mysteries in aviation history.

Now that the melting snow and clement weather have made it possible, intensive visual inspection, along with thermal imaging, infrared and electromagnetic detection, plus a thorough sweep with a metal detector have determined that the missing Flight MH370 is *not* in my back yard.
Attention is now being focused on the neighbors to the East.
traveling at the moment and only caught a bit of local news, but did the Malay PM confirm in a presser tonite the disappearance was a hijacking - and that person(s) with knowledge of the same manually disabled the transponder and the autopilot? (local west coast time 11:00pm-ish - CBS). That seemed to be the tease of the local newscast.
The cell phones of the passengers were ringing which would have been impossible if they were under water.
“It also might be on the Saudi peninsula, Pakistan, or an Indonesian island.”
Vey unlikely to have continued on to Pakistan or Saudi, there simply was not enough fuel to do that. Further the aircraft would have to cross Indian territory(Andaman & Nicobar) to do that. There is a very strong military presence there, being home to a large base especially meant to keep a close watch on the Malacca Straits. Chances of a large aircraft like this one getting close without detection would be extremely unlikely. More likely that the aircraft took a sharp turn southwards and went down there.
Soft landing. No crash. No ELT signal. Pilot walks away in somewhere like Afghanistan or Kasakhstan.
North Korea, to be outfitted with an EMP for you and me...
If Odingus and CONgress and George Soros go on a vacation anytime soon, we’ll know the jig is up. My guess it happens on a weekend
I agree with soft landing.
There is no need to worry about the plane. It is fine right now. I’m sure it will be returned. Although, the seats will be removed, and it will come back without passengers. But, no need to fret... it will have some sort of new and more exciting payload.
It will take them a while to acquire enough jet fuel to refuel her.
One wonders if they want to use it to take out Karzai in Afghanistan, or if they have an Israeli or American target picked out.
Between all the countries that have military installations, Fleet operations and civilian radar, they could stitch the flight path of this thing and get a pretty good guess as to where it is.
China had basing all over the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
The United States has basing all over the same place with more assets than all other countries combined.
Russia has a few bases.
India has civilian and military capability all over the place.
There are several other countries with basing as well.
But, we also have two subs in the area, I believe the 3rd Fleet, aviation intelligence flights constantly and a few other unnamed assets.
I saw a map a year ago detailing what was there and can’t find it.
Anyway, I would think the flight path of this plane could be found, from co-operative nations.
It didn’t just fall off the radar.
Even if it was a blip, it would follow a line and be tracked.
We track unidentified planes all the time from So. America to the US, who are smuggling.
I’m just glad they got that stuff out of my yard.
It’s a muddy mess back there now. And the dog wouldn’t shut up.

I wonder how likely is it that they took off with more fuel than reported.
That’s what I’ve been thinking.
With all the lack of solving that we as a planet are doing via this flight, technologically, this is now looking like a planned distraction. Agitate nations against each other in who knows what... the reality is the, say, G8 SHOULD know what happened, but are playing dense and blonde.
It didnt just fall off the radar.
Even if it was a blip, it would follow a line and be tracked.
Okay, why isn’t there enough fuel to reach Beijing, its original destination? I know they turned and flew off course, but surely they would have had extra fuel if they needed to circle the airport before landing.
North Korea is doubtful as we likely have satellites watching that country anyway 24/7.
Is there a hangar big enough to conceal a 777 in Male?
*** I wonder how likely is it that they took off with more fuel than reported.***
It is very possible MH routinely tankers fuel on this particular flight to avoid excess fuel charges in China.
If so, it would be a good reason to hijack this particular flight, as it would have more total range than other flights.
Pulau We, Sabang, SBC. An airport.
On an Island off the coast of Banda Aceh.
Nope. That’s a very busy tourist destination and there is no chance this aircraft could land there unannounced.
