Though not widely reported at the time, complications from back surgery in 2011 left him physically debilitated and in nagging pain, which proved to be yet another perilous ingredient in the toxic potion that was his 2012 campaign.

This is like Quayle and potato. Hope we can look at the candidate this time and not his '"oops" moment. He's passionate about smaller government and the 2nd Amendment and has a fiscal record that can't be beat. Go ahead, flame away.

He's another GWB where Illegal Immigration and the Border is concerned.

No Thanks.

Love the guy. I think he's an honest broker and can get things done.

FR has gotten into the habit of demeaning every available candidate. When will it stop.

No candidate can be all things nor will they be in agreement on all things. I think Perry is the best of the best despite any differences we may have.

The difference was that Quayle was handed a card with that spelling to use as the official answer, and that potatoe is an alternative spelling.

I think its time for an election without past candidates.

The big money donors that helped Perry raise that eye-popping $17,000,000 in the third quarter in 2011 are not going to flush their money down this particular commode again. Sorry, but Perry had his chance, and he embarrassed himself.

Rick Perry Making Case to Be Taken Seriously in '16

You don't get a second chance to make a good impression.

Right or wrong, in 2012 the whole nation outside of Texas got a first impression of Rick Perry as the white-male version of Sheila Jackson Lee, only less articulate.

Perry needs to come out with a book about his successes.

Hopefully he’s learned to do some homework, I’d vote for him in the general w/o any second thoughts. This is not to say he’d be my first choice in a primary, have to see what the field looks like first.

Perry's not bad for a cheerleader from Texas A&M!

I could support Perry, should he get the nomination.

Ted Cruz tops my list.

...much more articulate and quick on his feet when defending Conservative Values.

If a Kenyan can become President...

I still don’t have the heart to support Perry.

“If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they’ve been brought their through no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart,” Perry said. (September 22, 2011)

I like Perry — He has an excellent track record in Texas.

At this point I would like to see him either get contact lenses or classier glasses. Appearances count for a lot in elections — probably even more than substance.

Don’t do it Perry. You are not the person for the job ahead.

I like Perry.

Small Government
Pro-Life
Pro-God

Not afraid to be seen praying.

The big problem we have as conservatives is tearing other conservatives apart. Cruz will be. Paul will be. Sessions will be. Perry will be. Lee will be. Palin will be. Alan West will be. Those are my favorites

There are also a few with some blemishes who deserve a serious look because we would have preferred them last time to Romney:

Scott Walker, Susanna Martinez, Marco Rubio, and I’ll get blasted for this, but...Jeb Bush. ( You all know you’d have preferred Jeb to Mitt last time around.)

Passionate about the 2d amendment? While I’m glad, that passion sure hasn’t translated into decent carry laws for Texans. You still can’t carry a handgun openly in TX and the CHP is one of the most expensive in the country. And it is more difficult than average to obtain.

That puts TX in a league with oh, Illinois, when it comes to carry laws.
